I am on a tight bugdet and my mom think I should get married in Las Vegas and have like 20 guests to 30. I only get 3k from my dad and I have a very low pay job unfortuntely. Let me know what you guys think. I don't have a house, I live in a apt in downtown and my parents don't have a house. Can't...

It's not rude to have a cake and champagne reception at all. Just don't schedule it for a meal time. I'd recommend mid-afternoon.

Cupcakes are awesome, and you're in a good location to get them!

    $33/dozen and they'll do a complimentary tasting for a wedding order: http://www.cupcakeroyale.com/thecupcakes.html

$32/dozen and LOTS of flavors: http://www.theyellowleafcupcake.com/cupcake_flavors.php

Yummy-looking cakes ($240 for a full sheet cake that would serve 80): http://www.macrinabakery.com/pastriesandcakes/cake_menu/index.html

Also, if you want a relatively cheap sparkling wine, we're using Yellowglen Pink which is $10/bottle and REALLY good. It's a rose, but it's really not sweet (but not super dry, so most people will like it). Also, a lot of liquor stores will do a 10% case discount.

I definitely think you should do that free tasting--nothing to lose and you get to try some cupcakes!

For 80 people, I'd recommend 10-13 dozen cupcakes (1.5-2 per person). If you just get cupcakes and nothing else, I'd want to be on the high end, which would put you at $400-$450 for cake--but then you don't have to worry about any other food.

I would also look into serving coffee and/or tea, in addition to some sparkling wine, but that shouldn't be expensive.

Future Mrs. Nalley, a cheap way to go is to have it at a state park. My reception venue is $150 for the entire day!! The ceremony will be at a different location in the park, and because I'm not sure what part of the park, I don't know the price it will cost. It will range from $0 to probably around anoth $150, which is extremelly reasonable. And have a preacher do the nuptials to keep FMIL & FFIL happy. Check into some of your state parks: http://www.parks.wa.gov/

Yeah, and in Washington state in general, I would avoid an outdoor venue. You just can't count on the weather cooperating.

Megan I have been thinking about your dillema and I don't know how opposed you might be to a little drive for your ceremony but this is in Tacoma and it's beautiful. The only thing is it wouldn't work for a Feb. wedding and that's the problem.

Another Vegas bride here, getting married at Chapel of the Flowers. They have ceremonies that start at just a few hundred $s and up for their packages, which includ ceremony, limo, flowers, photographer etc. We are only having a few people, so will not have the expense of a full recenption, just going out to a nice restaurant for dinner.

Happy planning wherever you decide to have your wedding.

I'm getting married in Vegas, in a very "non Vegas" type of ceremony. It just turned out to be the best location for everyone, as there really is no "home base" for us or our families! So, cheap travel for everyone and no one (even us) has a "home field advantage"! Also lots for people to do, several are quite excited to come to vegas for the first time. Plus we are also on a tight budget - about 6K.

We are getting married at "The Grove" which is actually a good 45 min from the strip (in traffic), but its a one-stop garden and banquet hall. I found several places like this which give you a traditional feel, convenience and a good package price - we get full ceremony and reception (food, drinks, DJ, decor etc...) for 50 people for under 5K. The thing is, if you want to do Vegas, you can find any kind of wedding you really want! And probably much cheaper than elsewhere. I was completely against the Vegas idea at first, until I took a closer look.

@Cabell - jealous, we were totally set on VOF but finally conceeded that being there in August was probably more than a little insane and not fair to our guests!

If you only wanna have like 20 or 30 people, you can do alot for $3k or a little more! Fh and I are spending about $4k for 100 people. And were using a nice banquet hall and their caterer and everything. It's possible. But if you wanna do Vegas, I don't see anything wrong with it. Like pp said, just cuz it's in 'sin city' doesn't mean it's bad.
