Is it just me or are the personalized M&Ms ridiculously expensive?

Ashley, on August 2, 2011 at 3:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

5lbs for like...i think it was $129.95? I was like oooh these would be so cute for ppl to grab and snack on...i personalized them then selected the 5 lb bag...and then canceled. Lol. ugh! they were so cute too. *sigh*

Yes they are! I think I'm just going to do a certain color with no personalization. They're cheaper that way.

They are stupid expensive!!! I wanted them so bad for my favors and FW was like HELL NO!!!

So I went to Party City and just got the M&Ms in our wedding colors of white, lavender, and silver. The only thing they say is M&Ms like the regular M&Ms but in our colors. I paid $5.99 a bag.

Me too! Had them in my cart and all ready to make the purchase but it was more than I wanted to spend on personalized candy that I don't even really need.

Someone posted a link a few days ago to a youtube video that visually demonstrates how much candy fills up a 6 inch high round bowl and 5 lbs of M&Ms only filled it up about 2/3s of the way. So for your $130 you wouldn't even have a full dish!

Hehe I've been in weddings that did this, trust me you'd get sick of m&m's after you have eaten all the favors that got left behind, it is too bad they cost so much though, they are cute.

They are stupid expensive, but you could buy a small bag and then mix it with something else just so they are there, i'm getting two or three so the smaller bags and i'm mixing them with those table mints i think they're called so then it won't be so bad, but they are super cute

Hell, unless I grab my reading glasses, I can't ever see the personalization anyway.

I was going to do the wedding colors for the candy buffet and I thought that was ridiculously high too. So, I went with Reece Pieces, Dark Choco pieces and Cookies and Cream Pieces. They are all fall colors(and I had a manufacturer's coupon for all purchases.

My colors are navy and white. I was going to do personalized m&m's, but instead we are doing the York peppermint patty "pieces"...they are navy and white and are only $2.50 a bag at Walmart!

One of my brides wanted to go this route, and I pointed out that you can order blank M&Ms in your wedding colors for much less than getting them personalized. Really, it's adorable but your guests will eat them faster than they notice the initials! Spend the cost of personalizing on something more memorable for both you and your guests. :-) IMHO

SailingnurseMD....Great minds think alike. Sadly, while we love York Peppermint Patty Pieces, the navy and white doesn't go with our fall colors.
