Is it just assumed that women dream of their wedding when they're little girls?

Because I didn't and know many women who didn't...or are they just embarrassed to say they did? Did you dream of your wedding as a little girl? I won't judge.

While I've always technically dreamed of my wedding day, I have NO imagination and very little creativity so I didn't every actually visualize it, I guess. I mean I grew up wanting SO badly to be a mother and a wife. I was more obsessed with how it would feel to be married than the actual wedding.

As for the dress, again, I never knew what to picture! I do dream of the perfect dress but I never actually see it...it's just me in white you know?

Wow, great timing with this question. I was JUST talking about this with my mom yesterday.

Me: I've spent a year and a half planning and perfecting and hand making everything in sage and lilac and vintage for this wedding, Mom.

Mom: Well if I had known that in the beginning, I wouldn't have picked sage and lilac.

Me: You DID know. I told you the second you informed me you were engaged.

Mom: I mean when YOU started planning.

Me: Why would that have mattered? Until Chris proposed you had resolved yourself to never marrying him.

Mom: Well even so, a girl does dream of weddings, even if they don't expect to have one.

Me: That's so lame, Ma. And even so, I've dreamed of a green and purple wedding for 20 years. You know how hurt you were when your mom took over yours and Dad's wedding and planned it for you? Well you're taking over my wedding and planning it for yourself. Much worse, if you ask me.

So...yeah. I've dreamed of this for a long time.

Not AT ALL! I NEVER thought I'd want to get married and I was totally happy with that choice. First time my DH asked me what kind of engagement ring I would want I was stumped. I'd never even considered such a thing! It's really funny how fast I got into the wedding stuff considering it was totally new to me. LOL

I never dreamed of it. Was never really bothered either way if I would get married or not. Now, however, its all I seem to be able to think about.

And I am finding little clues, that my subconscious was thinking about it for a long time. For example, I really want FS to see me for the first time when I walk down the aisle, so no option for us to do photos together before hand. I am so inflexible on this item, and its odd, as I am normally like grass blowing in the wind, easily persuaded to change direction. When some one asked me why, I said, its just what I've always imagined... which surprised me to no end.

Not really. I guess I always assumed I would get married but I never really planned it out in my head or anything. In fact it amazes me how obsessed I am now about it Smiley winking One thing that I DID obsess about from a young age was sex... lol! I think I had that whole scenario planned out in my head since I was 12 years old. Which is retrospect was probably good since it caused me to pass up moments that didn't feel 'right' to me and I ended up waiting a little longer than most of friends in high-school.

Nope...my family is still in a certain state of shock that I actually got married and they are tickled PINK that I'm having a wedding for them to all witness.

Same thing with his family...all in a state of shock..no one thought either one of us would be able to tolerate another human being FOREVER...lol We are very particular people but thankfully it's about mostly the same stuff so it works for us! Smiley smile

Now I have actually had 2 nightmares about the wedding but I think that's more about the control freak/OCD part of me than anything.

I never even wanted to get married when I was a little girl lol so I never dreamed up a wedding. In fact, it took FH 8 years to get me to marry him lol.

I never did and as a result, when I started planning I knew exactly what I didn't want but couldn't put my finger on what I did want.

I always knew I wanted to be married, and that I wanted to have kids, never dreamed of or imagined the wedding part of it though.

As a little girl i didnt know what i wanted to do, i was a tom boy so didnt think about boys, or marriage, no i wasnt bi lol, just a huge tomboy. once my sister got married, I was more in the girly state, so i then thought about myself walking down the isle. My issue now is that FS wants outdoor at the reception venue, n I want a church. lol, if it rains then wed have to do it inside a dumb room, n i will cry!

I never really dreamed of getting married until I met my FH. And when i first started thinking about it, I just knew I want my bridesmaids to be my sisters and to have a small ceremony/reception with only close friends and family.

Yep, I did--but mostly I just dreamt of the vows, my dress, and the type of hubby I wanted to have. I got all of the above. But I could still drool over new dresses coming out. lol. The vows and hubby were/are perfect--better than I ever expected. Smiley smile

I actually did not dream of decor or flowers too much.

And even more than the wedding, I always dreamt of babies and my own lil family one day. ;p

I don't remember dreaming of it as a child. I played in the mud in the backyard with the two neighbor kids who were also girls. Sometimes we played barbies but not often. The only reason why i know what I want so well now is because me and FS have been engaged and planned our wedding before but didn't get married. So, I am basically doing the same things, with a slight difference and learning to like new things as I go. My Dad says he can't see me as being married because I am a Free Bird. For 4 months I was gone in NC without family, with someone I barely knew and when I got back me and my FS got back together and immediately got engaged, my Dad just can't see it. LOL.

I never really planned out my wedding as a kid but always knew I wanted one and wanted to get married in a church. When we first started planning we weren't going to have the ceremony at a church and after many tearful day I finally decided that was the one thing that was important to me.
