Is David's Bridal that bad?

I hadn't planned on going to David's Bridal because I've had people tell me that I shouldn't go there and I've read people online saying they refuse to go there because of some bad experiences. If you went to David's Bridal, how was your experience?

If you are refusing or did not go to David's Bridal, why?

I went twice for bridesmaids and junior bridesmaid dresses and it was pretty bad. We essentially got zero help from our consultant either time until I finally tracked someone down to unlock a dressing room. Then they told us the bridesmaids dress we ultimately chose came in pewter, but when they went to order it they discovered it didn't come in that color. We got zero help on junior bridesmaid dresses again until I walked to the register with a handful of dresses and asked which ones came in the color we needed and ordered. Not impressed at all.

Personally, I have had 4 bad experiences with David's Bridal. So bad in fact that I refuse to buy anything from their stores. I certainly did not buy my bridal gown there.

I didn't buy my dress at DB but I have been to DB with a friend to look at her dress and also to look for BM dresses. I haven't had any bad experiences. I know 2 people (my friend who I went with and another friend) who bought their dress at DB and they looked beautiful on their wedding days. Its not the same quality as the major designers but its only one day and you will still look wonderful!

I went in to browse for BM dresses and also looked at a few wedding dresses. Maybe it makes a difference if you don't have an official appointment, but the staff at the one I went to was less than helpful. I also found their dresses to be overpriced for the quality compared to other places I looked.

I agree with Lauren, some dresses seem overprice for the quality and the fit. --the cheaper dresses i didnt even bother looking cuz i did not like any of those styles--just seem outdated.

my counsultant called me several times after my appointment in which she dressed me up like a doll in shoes, jewelry that i did not request, lol it was a funny experience. BUT i went, to see what it was all about.

I went to two different David's bridal. The experience was OK. The dresses are NOT always a good price. There was one gown I tried on that was $1300. Another was $400...but it was very simple. I didn't think the gowns were that great of quality. iNMHO it's like shopping at Macy's ...

I had a great experience at david's bridal. my consultant was a very nice and sweet lady and super easy to talk to. she did a great job helping my figure out exactly what i wanted by really listening to what i liked and didn't like. she also did not try to push any of their poducts on me. i asked her about undergraments and she told me straight up that i can get them wherever i want. and when i told her i wasn't interested in a veil that day she said that was perfectly fine and dropped it. she even had some time after i found my dress so she was able to do bridesmaid dress on the same day. and i refused to pay over 1,000 for my wedding dress, lucky for me i got mine for 869 and didnt even realize the price is originally 1,099 until after i got my dress with a price tag on it. i got a dress over my budget without having to spend over my budget. YAY!

I did not get my dress there, but tried on my first dress there and loved my experience, truly made me feel beautiful and like a princess! I ended up going elsewhere only because of my dream dress was there but I did go back for my BMs dresses and glad I did

They let me exchange two different dresses: one after my original purchase but it hadn't left the store and the other more than 90 days after I had picked it up. Since that is outside their policy, I'd say, no they aren't that bad. My consultant was awesome, and this was after I had gone to the boutiques in town and was treated poorly at one.

I purchased my dress from there on a weekday. My consultant was a bit dry, but I was like whatevs because I pretty much already knew what I wanted (I had narrowed down the dresses I wanted to try on from looking online first). One of the original dresses I wanted to try ended up being the one, and it surprisingly was on sale for $99. They had to order my size (4) and it was in within 2 weeks.

My experience was awful! I came in for a scheduled appointment and they had no idea who I was or why I was there. I then spent the next 30 minutes picking dresses alone. The consultant never came to help me try on dresses either. Needless to say, I didn't buy anything there.

I think David's Bridal is one of those places that all depends on the location.

My experience wedding dress shopping was very unpleasant. I arrived for my appointment on time, checked in and was repeatedly told someone would be with me "any moment" for nearly a full hour (I counted just over 45 minutes, of my 90 minute appointment, I spent waiting).

When someone finally bothered to help me, it was clear that she was helping 3 other brides at the same time. I picked a few off the rack, then she handed me several more dresses that were nothing like what the description I gave her. Dropped them in the dressing room, leaving me to figure it out alone. Every time I tried on a dress, I had to walk out into the hall, unzipped, dress falling off me, to have my FMIL who was with me zip me up.

I left and never looked back.

I am using them for BM dresses, out of convenience & price more than anything.

I had a great experience there. It may have been because I had a great consultant. I book at appointment for myself at 3pm and for my bridesmaids at 5pm. I had a general idea of the type of dress I wanted. We picked out a few others. I tried them all on and there was an obvious winner so I got that one. She helped me zip up and get situated. I was done within a half hour. My bridesmaids came in for their appointment later. It may have been so easy because I let them all pick different dresses. I just told them what I wanted (no silk/taffeta, flowy chiffon if possible, knee length, navy blue) and let them find a dress that looked best on them. I have one BM with big boobs and no butt, one with a big butt and no boobs, and one without either. It would have been hard for them to all find one dress that looked good on their various body types. But they just looked through the racks and tried them on. We had dresses picked out and tried on within a half hour. We had to order one dress because they didn't have the correct color. We ordered them 12/27/14 and it came in about a week ago. No complaints at all. Couldn't have been easier.

Definitely depends on the associate you get.... i plan on going there to try on dresses for the first time to get an idea of what silhouette and material I like/ looks good on me. But i'll be going to a smaller, more intimate salon to buy my dress. getting the "experience" is very important to me and my experience with david's tells me they just can't provide the level of attention and assistance i'm looking for. good luck!

I went in DB to be sized I was ordering my dress online. Some people are rude others aren't. But you have to remember this your moment and not to let anyone upset you after all look at what their job consists of pulling dresses all day for picky -bridezilla soon-to-be brides. So just have patience and know what you're looking for and I wouldn't ask to see more than at least 3-5 dresses for the sitting. I love my dress by the way it was the 1st one I saw online and it was true to its look. I wouldn't change it for anything.

MY experience at David's was a good one. I got a beautiful dress at a great price. Their alterations are expensive. I went elsewhere.

As a plus size bride on a budget, I had a bad experience at the smaller shops. Very snooty.

I had a great experience at the David's bridal in my area. Everyone in the store was always helpful and knew there info! The lady that helped me look for my dress listen to me and picked out the dresses I had in mind and then she also picked dresses she thought would fit me beautiful and guess what I ended up picking one she grabbed (plus it was on sale!). Yesterday I went for my alterations appt. I was very emotional because I was by myself missing my family (out of state) and they made me feel very comfortable. The alterations price was way cheaper than I had expected and she knew exactly how to do my bustle. Something that I did do was for the bra and slip I bought off eBay for cheaper. Make an appt. So that you can have personal help etc.

I found a dress I loved, however I didn't want to pay the $1650.00 before taxes. While looking around at different dress shops one of the ones I tried was David's Bridal. I picked out dresses online that I wanted to try before going in so they knew what I was looking for. I tried some on and they were, eh okay, but not perfect like the dress I really liked. They had one that was very similar, however didn't have it in that store because it was being discontinued, so it was way on sale (this was all in NY). I came back home to PA after dress shopping with my girls and found a David's that has the dress. I went there alone and tried on the dress. It was so similar that I thought it was the one and I might as well get it because it was so similar and only $900. They didn't have my size, so they ordered it online for me and sent it to my house. The next day I had received a couple in my email toward a dress, so I called DB and told them and so they refunded me MORE off the dress because that coupon! I got the dress and tried it on and still loved it, however after it hung in my house a couple days I panicked because it wasn't 'the one'. I knew my dress was the Maggie Sottero dress I first tried on. I called DB and asked what I needed to do. Thankfully I had 14 days to return for a full refund from ordering online. I sent the dress back to them and got a full refund ( A FULL REFUND OF THE ORIGINAL PRICE! SO I ACTUALLY MADE A LITTLE MONEY!!) It all went smooth. I still bought my petticoat thing for under the dress and it fits under my dress now, so it all worked out. We went there for bridesmaids dresses and got them and didn't seem to have any trouble. Overall I would rate my experience as pretty good. However, when we were there looking with my maids a women came in demanding they give a refund for a dress she got last year. You have to be reasonable and polite in your requests...it goes so much further than just demanding what you want! Good Luck!
