Is Anyone Going To Use An Aisle Runner?

Crystal and Allen, on July 19, 2011 at 11:24 AM Posted in Planning 0 32

I purchased a nice, $20 aisle runner from Walmart. I thought it would be pretty... with rose petals to match my wedding colors. However, after reading many reviews on aisle runners and still being confused as to "who should place the runner, when to place the runner, and who should be allowed to walk on the runner," I decided to return it to the store! I also heard that they can wrinkle and cause you to trip down the aisle, if not secured properly. What are your thoughts on aisle runners?

    My venue doesn't allow them.

We are getting married at our church and I'm thinking of buying a non-slip isle runner. My walk down the isle isn't very long, so I hope it's not too expensive. I think as long as you figure out the details before purchasing, you will be fine. Just make sure you give that responsibility to someone who can do the job. You shouldn't be worried about the isle runner that day.

I used one for my first wedding, it wrinkled up a tad bit. For this wedding, I won't be using one, we will be outside in the grass and the last thing I need is for it wrinkle up and I trip and go flying down the isle...LOL

I'm having an aisle runner but it will be out for the whole ceremony and it will be a little different.

I will have one for sure. I'm debating on whether I want to buy one like you did from Walmart of just make one out of burlap (burlap I think fits my rustic theme better). I'm still undecided on what to do, I just know I want one for sure.

I don't think I'll have one..although it depends..my church says you have to if you use rose petals so they don't get smushed on the carpet, but I'm using fake ones..also it depends on the ceremony carpet..if there are stains or some weird color it would be good to use one..but really everyone will be looking at you, not the carpet..also ya runners can be tricky, I'd set it up before instead of having people fumbling with it during the ceremony.

I won't have one, per say, but I am going to line the aisle on each side with rose petals (as you see in Mrs Hodges' first picture, but with no cloth between it). I was worried about it wrinkling as well or not being straight, so I thought this would be a good way to avoid that kind of mess. I am making mine, however.

Well, the carpet has a "fun" print... LOL! but if everyone is looking at me, (like Ab Z said), then I really don't think anyone is really going to notice the carpet. Many people state that the runner should only be walked on by the bride. Others state that you can place it down once all guests have been seated and use it for the bridal party and bride. Too much to think about... I'm going to skip it.

I'll be having one but it won't be your typical runner, the fabric is closer to a red carpet (velours is the name I believe and I think that's french don't know the english), it will have our names and wedding date and it will already be out by the time anyone walk down the aisle.

I've never been a fan of people rolling out the runner right before the bride walks out, it looks tacky to me and messed up pictures at time, I'd rather not have one instead of doing that.

This was one of the first questions our best man asked me! He had to unroll it for his sister's wedding and it was a disaster. I've never had a good experience with an aisle runner, so we won't be using one, perhaps the rose petals on the sides though, that looks very pretty IMHO. I like the look of Mrs. Hodges runner thought, looks sturdy.

Probably. The ushers will unfold it. It's not really something you can practice since it doesn't roll back up as tight as it comes out of the packaging. I would suggest looking for one that's non slip and taking the floor/ground into account.

    Grass- No

    Carpet- Depends on the thickness

    Hardwood- Only with nonslip

    GL!

I just went to a wedding that had one and it was there before all the guest arrived and everyone that walk down aisle walked on it.

I'm probably having the ceremony outside so I probably won't use one.

Please don't take offense, but putting your thread title in all caps implies yelling and hurts peoples brains.

I'm not using one. I am getting married outdoors and using freeze-dried rose petals to create the edges of the aisle.

Hm.... I hadn't thought about not having one, but now that I'm thinking more about it I might not.

But, the carpet in the hotel is kind of ugly so it would be nice to have something covering it.

I guess I'll have to think about it some more.

I love the look of an aisle runner i dont know why but in my original wedding plans it was a must! But after talking to a lot of brides online/in person I was advised against it because of tripping and stuff. However, if you really want it I say go for it. Just practice walking on it at the venue and see how you need to secure it.

I hate the idea of the rolling the aisle runner out. Thats why i choose that design and only the parents and wedding party will walk on it. I will have the last two chairs on the aisle draped with some thick ribbon so the guest won't walk on it .
