If by bad luck you mean having more money in your pocket, then yes, it's terrible luck.

I agree with paulette if you like it why not...I think paying full price when you can get a bargain is bad luck!

Well, I wore a used wedding dress. And over two years after the wedding, I still feel very lucky to have NotFroofy. So I'd say no.

And after my first wedding, I gave my wedding dress to my sister for her wedding. She's still married, nearly 30 years later.

I wore my sisters dress for my first wedding and have 3 amazing children and a whole lot of years of good stuff, I'd say it is what you believe it to be, and I say only believe in amazing stuff!!! = GREAT LUCK!

I got my dress free. My aunt was going to give it to a thrift store. My mom way talking to her about me getting married and she told my mom to take it. The best part it fits great.

I would definitely not think of it as bad luck! My engagement ring was "previously owned." FH and I look at it as he was able to get a much nicer ring for an affordable price. I would feel the same way about a dress.

I dont think so...if you think about it at one time it its life it is possible that the same item was new and with several of the same thing being sold to more than one person...

I don't think it's bad luck at all! It can be a great deal and after all, the dress has only been worn by one other person for a day at max and is dry cleaned after the wedding so it's like new! If you are going to buy a used dress, here are a few tips of what to look for: http://www.smartbrideboutique.com/blog/tips-from-the-experts-how-to-buy-a-once-worn-wedding-dress/20100115/172/

Nope, only I think if the divorced people were there..I was gonna think about wearing my mom's old dress or at least veil, but it was also her sister's dress, and my aunt and her ex husband were at the wedding, I thought that would be too awkward.

Its only bad luck if it has blood on it, and has been restitched all the way up the back. ;-)

    (sorry, bad joke)

No way is it bad luck. You are being economical. If I had found my dress used I would have bought it.

Definitely not bad luck... my reception dress was a used dress! I love this site for used dresses at seriously good prices... http://www.oncewed.com/used-wedding-dresses/... remember you can always have a bigger dress taken in to fit you but its difficult to get a too-small dress to fit. The one I got used (on ebay) was several sizes too big, so alterations cost about $300, but the dress was so affordable that it was reasonable and in my budget.

    Good luck!!

    Hi Amber,

I just got the most amazing "used" wedding dress on http://www.recycledbride.com, a super great site, that's got some seriously gorgeous dresses.

Not only do they have 1,000's of wedding dresses available, but they sell all the accessories too! I think the whole bad luck thing is just a wives tale retailers made up to sell more. Why spend you're money on a new dress when you can buy one that someone paid full price for and only was in it for a few hours or less? If you go the used route, which I strongly suggest you give a shot- you will be able to afford a way nicer dress for a fraction of the costSmiley smile

    Definitely check out http://www.recycledbride.com

Congrats and I'm sure you'll find a lovely dress!
