In lieu of shower wording

Instead of a wedding shower my daughter would like people to contribute money to her honeymoon fund. She has a website set up through a company online where it describes their honeymoon plans. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to word a invite for that?

@Muriel - that's not how the original comment reads to me, but if that's true, it's just weird. I dunno.

@maria why do you need to tell people to give you money?! I just do not understand. And those companies take a portion out for themselves. So you aren't getting the full amount!

Maria, Honeyfund is one of the worst. They deceive the gift giver into thinking the couple is getting an experience when they just get a cheque, minus a service fee.

I have no idea why people get like this lol too funny. I guess everyone knows how their friends or family would react. Personally, my family doesnt put anything on the invite re:gifts or register. We just always give cash. Maybe you can do a shower with an invite and when people ask what she wants, you can just say money would help or something...just word of mouth...people just giving cash is standard in some cultures....no need to write or say it lol

MsGem - OP doesn't even want to host a shower. She wants to send out a notice that her daughter would like money for her honeymoon in lieu of the whole shower!

I found this! SEE HOW TACKY IT ACTUALLY LOOKS??

This was a Google image, BTW. I did not make it. ETA: Potluck. They are literally telling their "guests" to BYO food AND give them money. Just no. A bridal shower is not something a couple is entitled to.

So at the shower do guests just throw money at the bride and then she runs around and collects it off the floor?

Showers are for presents. Not even hosting one and asking for money?

I have no words. Oh yes I do!

There's no need for an invitation, since there's no actual party. Just borrow an offering bag from a church and have your daughter pass it around during the reception. Make sure she gives her guests the puppy dog look- it's more compelling.

Ummm having a wedding doesn't mean someone has to shell out for a non-existent shower and a wedding. The point of a shower is to shower someone with gifts and love not collect cash. Tacky AF. Would you go to a baby shower or send cash if someone said no baby shower for me but hand me cash? Ummm no. If she doesn't want a physical shower with presents then don't ask for money.
