In lieu of shower wording

Stacey, on June 27, 2017 at 7:26 PM Posted in Planning 0 121

Instead of a wedding shower my daughter would like people to contribute money to her honeymoon fund. She has a website set up through a company online where it describes their honeymoon plans. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to word a invite for that?

This is a really rude idea. I don't have any suggestions.

The shower is kind of gift centric, asking for money is always rude, and seems even more so for a shower. Maybe she and her FS can register for "travel related" items for the honeymoon if the trip is something they are prioritizing, but flat out asking for money? No no no

I'm going to rephrase what you asked because I want to make sure both you and I understand what you've just asked: you want to invite people to give your daughter money instead of invite them to a bridal shower?!

You see how tacky that sounds, right?

If she doesn't need anything, maybe not have a shower.

Dear people who would be shower guests except I'm not having a shower so you're just people who aren't invited to a thing:

I want money. Give it to me.

    Love,

    Entitled Bride

There is no wording for this because it's really, really rude. The point of a shower is to shower the bride with gifts, not to pay for the couple's honeymoon.

Yes, there is, I will go find it, from my neic s wedding she had last year, I'm going to use it in my invitation in the mail, because we already have everything household wise. Come back to this forum and check I will post it I don't have it memorized it was lovely, tasteful and everyone gave envelopes in a box to slide in the cards w either cash or gift cards. You ppl on here saying it's rude? The guests are not paying to eat and dance, that's free to them

@bunnyandchingy so the easy solution is don't throw the optional party, and use your own money for the trip? If it's a quid pro quo that just seems logical right? I really didn't think we were feeding our guests to get their money

Bunnyandchingy, can't wait for the cute poem! All manner of rude things are much better with a poem.

There's nothing cute or tasteful about doing this.

LOL @bunny. You're hosting a wedding reception, and you need to feed and entertain guests. It's their thank you for coming to your wedding and giving you a gift. You asking for money is tacky as fuck.
