You’re welcome. It wasn’t too long ago that I was dealing with these types of curveballs and people were there to talk me off the ledge. Just returning the favor. The people who responded to this post have thrown out a lot of good suggestions you can use when speaking to and negotiating with your venue’s representative. I’m hopeful that you find a solution that will work after your conversation with them. Fingers crossed!! 😊

DJ, I am really sorry for this added inconvenience on top of an already stressful time. I have really enjoyed following your posts these past months and am hoping everything works out. You have a right to be upset.

I don’t think anyone’s saying you (or any other brides) should be “OK with it”. Just that when you make the decision to have your wedding during a pandemic, you have to realize that you are also taking on all the restrictions that come with it. I think everyone is trying to help by encouraging you to not see yourself as a victim, but rather to empower yourself to find solutions that will work for you and your wedding. I hope you and your venue can work together to find such solutions or compromises.

I never chose to have my wedding during a pandemic.I signed my contract before the pandemic even happened. It unfortunately costs way too much money to all of these vendors to postpone. But regardless I appreciate you listening and trying to help.

This is just horrible... I’m assuming it’s too late to cancel with this venue...? And your wedding is outside?! Yet, thousands and thousands of people can crowd into a baseball stadium next week across most states without testing. These tests aren’t completely accurate or reliable either, so that’s a mess in itself. My friend just left for Mexico and needed a rapid test and it came back positive - she said this is a nightmare, I feel great, had to get tested two more times and both came back negative so she was able to board the plane. Definitely reach out to your wedding coordinator and see how she/he can help with organization and information to all vendors and guests immediately. Might change your guest count even... We personally are declining all events that require a test. Best wishes!!! 🤍

This is insane and stupid. Public health has really beclowned itself during this whole thing. Those are not reasonable regulations.

Thank you for understanding my frustration!

And another major fact that really upset me was the fact that she asked me for all of my guests contact information! I don’t even care if my guests give me their consent to give their contact information away, I would never do that!

Thank you so much for understanding! And yes I agree with you 100%, these are not reasonable regulations at all. The height of the pandemic did not have the demand for negative test results at weddings. Now that people are getting vaccinated are you going to start implementing these much harsher guidelines?! It’s so bizarre

I feel your pain, this is absurd!!! I’m mad for you 😡. Also, so so sorry, I know (from your past posts) how hard you have tried to ensure a safe and fun wedding for everyone, and this is a senseless regulation. Yes we live in a crazy world right now, but government picking winners and losers is truly not fair. If it helps at all, just know that you have people on your side on this 😐.

Thinking about this, you should write to your governor and state reps about it. You may find a sympathetic ear

Not sure if it is available in your state, but where I am there are covid testing vans you can hire for events. They are rapid tests and people just step into the van and have the results in a few minutes. You said it's outdoor, so I assume having a food truck sized van wouldn't be a problem? Hope this helps!

I’m with you on that one. I also did not “choose to have my wedding during a pandemic” I signed my all inclusive venue a month before it happened. And my timeline of starting a family was not one I was willing to put on the back burner to chase a pandemic free day I could not predict. And I am a NYC bride so I feel your pain. I’ve had a little more time to accept the new rules of testing being a requirement. But up until a few days ago I hadn’t even thought of what if a guests forgets to get tested or doesn’t receive results back in time. Those are the thoughts that have really been keeping me up at night because it’s completely possible and then what? You paid for ppl who can’t come due to a last minute change in rules? Guests came all this way and purchased new clothes just to get a day of no? It does suck I can empathize. Fortunately NY is allowing vaccinated individuals to forgo this testing rule the only catch is they have to provide proof of vaccination (both doses of moderna or pzier) and it has to be 14 days post vaccination. So if it was a 2 dose vaccine then 14 days after the second shot. The only issue with this is with the hope that vaccines will be available to al American adults by May that’s pretty close to the both of our weddings. I have however been looking into purchasing at home covid rapid tests just to have on hand in case guests don’t get results back in time. The only issue is finding affordable ones and ones approved in this country. Just wanted you to know you weren’t alone in this. We’ll get through this and come out married to our SO. That much I know is true

Don't really have any advice but I am sorry you're going through this and your feelings are valid. Planning a wedding anywhere in the Northeast sucks right now.

Honestly this might even change between now and then. Even the most restricted states are slowly easing up as people become vaccinated. Unless you have a bunch of non covid believers I'm sure your friends will have no problem with this if they are prepared in advance. I wouldn't be offended if a friend or family member had me do this for their wedding. Especially if it was required by their venue.

Pleaseeeee stop with the "when you choose to have your wedding during a pandemic..." NOBODY. CHOSE. THIS. Full stop. A lot of people can't "just postpone" again, for a number of different reasons. So we're trying to make the best of it. And it sucks that when you feel like you're finally starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel, some new curveball is thrown at you.

OP, I'm so sorry that you now have this added stresser. I also would have freaked out my venue sent me that email. As more and more people get vaccinated, I hope they start to ease the restrictions so you won't even need to worry about it when your day comes.

Thanks for your support! And thank you for understanding! And I totally get where you’re coming from! We signed our contract like not even two weeks before this whole pandemic thing happened. And you know exactly what I’m talking about when I say you’re locked in a contract and the only way to get out is by forfeiting a bunch of money or by postponing which also costs another arm and a leg and then that also prolongs starting a family. Thanks for getting it
