If you became pregnant before your wedding....

Lets assume you got pregnant in time to be saying "I do" with an enormous belly, what would you do? Would you still get married like planned, maybe a new dress to look better with a big belly? Or would you move your wedding to a different date? I don't know why I keep thinking about this but I think...

I don't know why I keep thinking about this but I think one of my biggest worries (rational or not Smiley winking ) would be to get pregnant right now. Nevertheless, I am pretty sure I would still have the wedding and not move it. I would be ok with waddling down the aisle...

What about you ladies?

I would be freaking devastated! If I got knocked up RIGHT NOW, I would have plenty of time to have the baby and drop the weight (which makes my wedding seem like a million years away right now), but if I had to make the choice between preggo bride and pushing the wedding back, I would change the wedding in a heartbeat.

Edit: FH and I actually discussed this recently and we decided that there is no good reason to consider abortion...we're done with school, own a house, etc....so we would have to keep it.

I used to have nightmares about it. I would have moved the wedding up. I wanted to be thin on my wedding day. Once I got to the two month mark I stopped worrying about it because I figured I wouldn't show that early.

I've already been pregnant once, and both our families were thrilled, so I don't think anyone would care...if I got pregnant I'd cancel the reception, have my little private ceremony & walk down in a very pretty dress that would hide my bump.

Its not as simple as just looking pregnant on your wedding day!! theres a whole load of other aspects of being pregnant lol you're gonna get tired a whole lot easier, stress is terrible on a baby and your feet could be swollen and sore. Not to mention morning sick, round ligament pain and everything else that goes along with it. Don't get me wrong I loved being pregnant and I love my daughter. But I would have been miserable on my wedding day if I got married during my pregnancy. I had terrible morning sickness and once I got over there I had terrible hip pain and could barely walk and then I was put on bed rest for the last three months. So IF you do get pregnant between now and your big day- its not as simple as just how you're gonna look in your dress. Of course a lot of people do it and it can be done, but you just don't know how you're gonna feel...

My friend was supposed to get married Nov 1. She got pregnant in April and is due in December. They called their venue, paid an extra 6k to cancel the ceremony and move the reception until next June. They went to the courthouse on Nov 1 and did a quick ceremony. In June, they'll have the reception.

Chloe - that was more my thought. I am off birth control so once we are married we can start trying right away but my sister called me one day saying "Don't get pregnant before your wedding!" and I said why? at this point I probably wouldn't even be showing, and she said "what if you have bad morning sickness? Plus FH wants me to be able to drink and have fun. I am just SO scared it will take forever once we start trying that I want to get started now so if it takes a year, it's a year from now, not March. But, with our luck we'd get pregnant right away since we're counting on not. I guess we will find out in March! If we got pregnant in the mean time we'd keep everything as is but probably not tell anyone, I'd be happy though Smiley smile

FH & I want to start trying as soon as we're married. But, if it happened before, I would be very disappointed in us. However, I would probably cancel the current wedding, have a courthouse wedding, then the big throw down wedding/reception well after the baby was born.

For us it wouldn't have happened..I'm on BC (not that it's 100%) but I take it the same time every day (I have an alarm, and FH has an alarm 5 minutes later lol). He also makes me stay away from him certain times of the month (ovulation times)..yes we are very careful lol

On a fluke if it did happen then we would have scaled back the wedding a lot..We are firm believers that once you have kids all priorities need to be about the child..so money spent on a wedding would go for college funds, baby furniture, etc. Not our own party.

Your life and priorities need to change when you have a baby on the way.

Of course that really depends on your income..if you have a ton of disposable money to blow after buying baby stuff, saving for baby college, etc then maybe nothing would change other than the dress.

Sometimes I think we would be okay and then I really start to get excited about having a baby. Most of the time it just scares the shit out of me.

Its not even the wedding I am worried about. I am in law school and we have decided to hold off on family planning until after I graduate. We are still getting married though...

Oh gosh, this is my biggest fear!! We were originally getting married the week before Thanksgiving & then had to push the date back to April. My biggest hesitation about moving the date was I found my dress & just my luck I would end up pregnant. I haven't been on the pill in a few years due to side effects & nothing has happened. I have decided hands off & don't touch me anytime close to ovulation until we get married:-)!

Luckily, if I found out I was pregnant right now, I would not be far along enough to have to waddel down the aisle. I'm pretty sure my dress would still fit. I would hope that I wasn't pregnant prior to the big day, but I'm sure it would just make me happier on the day of!

I'd get an abortion. We can't have kids till I'm done with grad school anyway.

I have the same fear but I think I would still go thru it with a dress that flattered the belly Smiley smile

If I got pregnant I would be extremely happy since FH and I have already had one miscarriage but on the other hand we have already talked about taking precautions to try and prevent this from happening. We would still have our wedding but I would have to change my dress. The pregnancy would just add to the happiness!
