I need a xanax

Laura, on October 15, 2015 at 8:18 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 21

2 days. And I'm flipping shit about everything that still needs to be done or how it's all going to get handled in the day of. I can't drink, so I need something else to help ease my nerves! I wish I wasn't such a procrastinator and I wish FH didn't have to work the next 2 days.

How much left do you have to do? I am sure it is overwhelming. Take a step back, make a list of everything you have left if you have not done that yet. Enlist the help of your family/friends where you can. You can get through it!

Breathe and reboot. Make a list. There are probably some things on there that you can let go or delegate. If anyone has offered to help out now is a good time to take them up on it.

One thing I have learned from watching multiple cousins get married is that nine times out of ten the things the bride is worried about generally aren't even noticed by guests. After weddings I have heard my cousins talking about things that weren't finished on time or went wrong. As a guest my opinion was always that everything was perfect. Keep that in mind and it might help. Of course I say this not having been in that position yet.

How much of the stuff left is essential? Now's the time to give up on any DIYs. I'm sure what you have planned will be fantastic! Smiley smile

I need to pick up alcohol and ice, get a few signs and make 2 others. I need to pick up take linens and my wedding band that had to be resized. I am getting a wax and my nails done today. I need to pick up a few gift cards as gifts for BP and officiant. Tomorrow I'll be at the venue setting up most of the day. I know there is more, I'm just forgetting lol. My mom will be helping me at the venue as well as a bridesmaid and my doc in the afternoon.

Your FH should be able to pick up some gift cards after work-- I'd delegate that as well, although it's probably a quick stop even at CVS or something. Agree with VM-- delegate what you can, and scrap any unnecessary signs.

I agree with VM that you should delegate if you can. Most people actually want to help and it will help you feel less stressed.

I would skip the 2 signs you have left. Even you won't miss them on Saturday. I promise.

Try to relax as much as is possible (know that's hard as I'm two weeks out and can't sleep for shit!). Delegate if you can. Lists are always helpful as they assist with order and making sure all the to-do's are done! Xo

    I agree with VM.

I would send someone else to do the pickups. And some signs can be already pre-made (craft stores & some bridal shops). So if you don't have time you can do that. Or order on Etsy. I got all my bar signs for $1 and I just did the digital Download so all I had to do was print and stick them in pretty picture frames.

Yep, I second all the ladies here who said Take a breath. Make a list. See who can help you with said list. This is the time you want to be enjoying all those last minute details, getting ready to slip into that lovely wedding dress and marry the person you love.

Write a list! Trust me, it will help. When I'm stressing I write a list, I write everything down with appt time for scheduled tasks that can't be moved. Put the tasks in order of farthest from your final destination to closest. Start with the farthest task with a projected amount of time it will take, for instance:

    10 - 11:00 - Pick up linens

11 - 12:30 - Pick up and check wedding bands

    12:30 - Nail Appt.

    1:30 - Wax

    2:45 - Pick up Alcohol

Try to stay as close to the timeline list as possible and delegate what you can't accomplish. You'll be alright just breathe and stay focused.

Ask for help. Breathe. Go for a walk or a run. Then run around like crazy and get it all done. You can do this.

Here's the joke I tell myself at such times-- it is VERY crass, so you have been warned:

"Life is like a dick-- when it gets hard, you just say 'Fuck it!'"

And remember-- as long as you have a license and an officiant, you'll be married at the end.
