I didn't know I was pregnant...

Laudie, on June 27, 2013 at 11:16 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 41

Don't worry I'm not ;-)

Does anyone watch that show? Another post reminded me of how I used to watch that show and wonder how the heck can these people not know?!?

Well 3 years ago FH came home to visit and we had a party at his mom's house. His cousin was over and I told FH I thought she looked pregnant...he said yea I know but Rhiannon (another cousin) says she has talked to her and Jazmin (preggers cousin) insists she is not pregnant...well 3 weeks later FH calls me and tells me Jazmin had a baby! She went to the hospital for what she thought were kidney stones and found out she was in labor!

That just freaks me out!! I hope that never happens to me...anyone else have "didn't know I was pregnant" experience or know someone who did?

LoL I saw on the news not long aago, a lady ran a MARATHON, all 26.2 miles of it and then had really bad back pain so she thought she was just sore. Ended up going to the hospital and had a baby girl. Craziness!

LAUDIE! HOLY COW! I nearly had a heart attack! Anyway, I can't contribute other than to tell you you freaked me out. I'm on birth control and I'm making sure I'm not having an "Oh my god" moment before I get married.

Yeah I used to the one that got me was a baby was born in a public restroom while camping and the baby went into the toilet.

I've never been pregnant but I would think you would have to know correct???

P.s. I thought you were really having a baby!

I knew you would comment OTW...for some reason I had you in mind when I was writing this :-)...I liked that someone else made it sound like they were ending the engagement only to say they were in single digits so I thought I'd do the same haha...and I am on the pill to so I better not be getting preggers!

ETA - IrishLove/MrsK I just noticed you changed your name! Throwing me off here! I saw that one where the baby went in the toilet! That was just crazy!

I had a really horrible pregnancy with my oldest. I knew instantly. The doctor dated my pregnancy at 4 weeks. I felt sick immediately, light headed after any kind of activity, and food I usually loved turned my stomach. I also woke up in the middle of the night starving.

My second pregnancy - I realized I hadn't had a period in about 2 months (I was busy with a 10 month old and working full-time). I had no other symptoms and only took a pregancy test to rule it out because I knew the doctor would ask when I called.I was almost 9 weeks (not months LOL) pg when I found out.

I had a really awful first pg and my doctor wanted me to wait and let my body heal for at least 18 months before trying for a second. My kids are 18 months apart. So much for that, but no complications.

I don't know how you go 9 months without knowing, but it happens.

I have only seen the show once or twice but about 10 years ago, I worked with a girl who claims she didn't know she was pregnant. He didn't show up for work one morning and when I called her, She told me she was resting at the hospital because she just had a baby.

It was a very WTF moment. None of the teachers at the daycare we worked at could believe it.

To this day, I still think she knew.

I think some people are in such denial that they start to believe their own lie...I think that's what happened with FH's cousin

I don't get it either. Surely at some point the baby kicks or moves? What do they think it is??

A couple of weeks ago I woke up with horrible cramps, and I thought "OMG! What if I didn't know I was pregnant! Maybe I'm giving birth!'. I could just imagine calling FH and say "Hi! Could you pick up a crib on the way home?" Well, it wasn't that at all, no baby Smiley smile At least the doctor had a good laugh.

Barring extreme medical issues I have no clue how you don't know. I've only seen the show a few times but every time I can't help but think how these women are just either very unobservant or in denial.

I didn't know I was pregnant until I was about 6 months in.. I had no normal symptoms that would have pointed towards pregnancy. I had a weird feeling one day and tested and a week later had a ultrasound and I was at 24 weeks and was having a boy.

I have a friend of a friend that had this happen last year. The mother will actually be at my reception as a plus-one. She seems to have turned into a good mother, though, and seems to enjoy it!

There was one episode where I thought "ok I guess she might not have known"...it was a girl who had played varsity soccer her freshman year in college but then decided it was too much for her so she stopped playing. She never had regular periods because she had so little body fat and after she stopped she gained 10-15 lbs. Normal for a new college student who stops playing a varsity sport. She was lethargic a lot and just attributed it to not exercising

Other than that I just have no idea!

Caroline, I had a moment like that too. A few months back, I woke up in the middle of the night with bad back pains and all and thought I was going to have to call TLC, lol. I even started worrying about how I would explain this to my dad as he still thinks I'm being "innocent" with FH haha. It was one crazy night and actually turned into a period the next day. Lol.

I knew a girl in high school that kept it a secret. Everyone was wondering where she was for a group project and someone said she was at the hospital having her baby. Lol. Crazy!

I am not gonna lie i went the first 12 weeks without knowing I was pregnant. I have polycystic ovarian syndrome so it was not unusal for me not to have a period for a couple of months at a time. Never have I been regular so to check if a go 2 months without a cycle I check and tests during this time came up negative including one if Drs office pregnancy was seen on ultrasound that I was scheduled for to check a cyst on my ovaries! Both FH and I were told we would never have kids. I lost 20 pounds over those first few weeks. Even at the end I never really felt Justin move all that much. He ended up being 3 weeks early and 11 pounds and 27" at birth, which is why I didnt feel him move too much he had nowhere to go. SO again I will say IT IS very possible and you should not assume that a person has to know that they are pregnant

I really don't get how people don't know..... Once the baby starts moving it's hard to deny it. I mean it starts to look like an alien in there. There is only a few cases would I could understand it (baby was in certain positions) but for the most part I just don't know how one doesn't feel kicks and think hmmm what the hell is that?????

@Keriayn I can see 12 weeks but not full term.

BTW my daughter was 10 1/2lbs 3 weeks early as well and she totally would move and roll and kick. People could see it through my shirt lol. I am also only 5'2.

My second daughter wasnt a big kicker BUT she still moved.

A former coworker of mine didn't know she was pregnant. She was a larger lady and obviously received no prenatal care. The baby girl ended up dying a week or two after birth due to the lack of prenatal care Smiley sad

At least on the show you know the baby always lives.
