My mom bought my dream dress for me last year with the shoes I wanted for $320 brand new. My dress is a prom dress, and I would have never known if the lady didn't say anything. One of my best friends was married last year and she also wore a prom well two prom dresses but they were beautiful and no one besides us new.. you spend what you are comfortable with and buy what makes you feel beautiful! Don't worry if it isn't thousands of dollars and don't be ashamed of it is modest spending. No one is counting what's in your pockets. So find what suits you and your needs!!
I agree that $400 for a prom dress is WAY too much. But this isn't prom. It's your wedding, presumably one of the happiest and most special days of your life. While it's true you'll only wear it once, I feel every bride needs to buy what makes them feel beautiful.
Now, everyone has a budget. Mine is very small, so I had to prioritize what was most important to me. In other words, decide what percentage of my budget to spend on each category (attire, venue/catering, photos, DJ). So, I decided I couldn't afford to spend more than $800 on my dress. When I started looking, I made sure to only try on dresses that were under that limit. There's nothing worse than falling in love with a dress you can't possibly afford. But since I've been reading these forums, I have seen lots of brides post about different places to get good deals on dresses. So, check it out!
Mine is a custom made dress for $1300. I just happened to be on yelp and found a little hole in the wall shop and she is making my dream dress. My original budget was $2225 and I was looking at impressions where they have nice dresses for good prices, just none in my style.
My budget was 1500 including alterations. The first dress I thought I was going to order was 1100, but the salon knocked 100 off. I ended up continuing to look and found a different dress I liked even more for 750!! Ordered that one, and since it's a tea length my alterations should hopefully be very minimal!!!
I spend $1500 on dress and $350 On alterations and $300 on Vail. I didn’t have a budget set when you came down to my dress but in your case you don’t have to spend a lot of money on ur dress you know your budget . Good luck
Hi, this is your wedding spend what YOU feel is best for you your budget and your concience lol. Also, if you love something do not be afraid to spend. My dress was 1,500 and when I went shopping I hoped 1,500 but willing to go to 2,000 if I loved something over
I'm pretty sure I top yours... mine was free! (Except alterations) my mom lives in a different state and was heartbroken that she couldn't be a part of the "dress shopping" experience so she found one that was second hand and sent it to me... and it fits like a glove! Just needs to be hemmed up. I will say this... I bought one for $100 online but I dont have the heart to deny my mom this and the one she sent is really nice! Anyway, I really am on board with not breaking the bank for a dress you will wear for a few hours!

I spent $122 for my DB dress. It was in the Sample Sale and was originally $1050. My budget was $300. I'm all about being cheap 😁
I nearly cried when I heard my dress was 1,400 I never wanted to spend that much but it was my only option other than online. Though.. I am so happy I got it

I'm totally with you. I wanted to keep it under $500 total and found my dress on sale for $200. I could have spent more but didn't feel the need to spend a lot on something I could only wear once.
Absolutely not! I too wanted a budget dress and ended up at a sale at Davids Bridal. Sure, I can't say a high end designer's name when I talk about it, but I got my dress for $450. If I could've found one for less, that would've been even better! Are those high end dresses beautiful? No doubt! But if they don't fit into your budget, you can absolutely find a gorgeous dress for less. It's important to do what you are comfortable with! I have struggled at times because I felt like I like some of those expensive dresses more, but then I think about my budget, the fact I'll only wear it one day and how beautiful it is and I get over it!
I'm right there with you. Why spend so much when you'll probably never were it again? My plan is to get a second dress I love, and invest in alterations.

I feel the same way.... My ideal cost for my dress would be no more than $500.
Do what you feel comfortable with! My dress cost $200, and I love it. I'm not even getting alterations. Sometimes wedding social media can make me feel overwhelmed, but I know the most important thing that day will be my marriage, not the party.
