Just out of curiosity. Were you comfortable with what you paid? Was it more than you originally planned? Less? Just right? Did you splurge? Not splurge? ETA: Feel free to show off your dresses. I can't get enough of them

Spend what you can afford and what you feel comfortable spending. Some brides on this forum have spent $100 and some have spent upwards of $10,000. Those who spent more don't usually post the cost of their dress anymore because of the judgment and criticism they received, so the numbers tend to be skewed these days. Just spend what you can afford and what you feel comfortable with and nothing else should matter.
Mine was $1400 after alterations. It's a beautiful dress and fits me perfectly. I'll post pics after I'm married. However, I've never spent that much on any dress before and I'm never going to wear it again so I'm not sure how comfortable I am with the amount.
My budget was $2000, and my dress, with taxes, was a little over $1500. I'm pretty pleased with this as now I have extra to go towards alterations.
My initial budget was $500. Haha My dress was originally $1400 at Alfred Angelo (pre-bankruptcy). However it was a sample sale so it was reduced and with tax it was around $950. I had to pay in full to walk out with it so a family member fronted me the money. The next day he told me to not worry about it but I insisted on paying some back so he settled for $500. So I got very lucky for various reasons and it has everything I wanted in a dress!
Dress cost $2000 which was under my budget of $3000. Then the consultant threw an $800 veil on my head and I fell in love with it. The veil was definitely a splurge... but what's a girl to do =)
I went in with a budget of $2,000 and ended up spending $1,500 on a Stella York/Essence of Australia. I chose to go dress shopping on Black Friday because the little shop that I had been eyeing was having a "White Friday Sale". I would have spent a bit more than my budget had it not been for that sale. Alterations haven't been factored in yet (I go tomorrow) so I expect I'll be closer to $2K after that.
Mine was $840 plus $220 (hem and bustle) in alterations. It was more than I wanted to spend, but not too much more that I was uncomfortable with the purchase!

Originally $700, got it on sale for $400 (taxes included). Will find out soon enough what alterations will cost.
I originally fell in love with a $1500 dress, but not only was this price above my budget, I could also tell that alterations would be pricey- it was lace and tulle and the neckline was a bit too deep etc.
The dress I finally bought, was a close second and while I didn't have major dress regret, it hurt a little that I had to compromise. However, I recently picked it up and I was stunned by how beautiful it looked. When I tried it on it fit me like a glove and I was so relieved....I think I am finally in love with my dress :-)
I paid $600 for the dress and another $200 for the veil and belt. This was my exact budget and I was extremely happy I found my dress within my budget.
I told the consultant my budget was $1500 but if I truly fell in love with something more expensive I'd pay it. I didn't look at prices throughout the entire shopping process, I did stay away from the couture section though. Once I had it narrowed down to two I asked the prices. The dress I chose was not based off price at all but it was $1,065! Way under budget!
