How much of a deposit do you put down for your dress?

Amy, on June 11, 2017 at 7:28 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 39

I'm going shopping for my wedding dress today! I'm so excited! What's the etiquette for purchasing the dress? Do you pay for it in full? How much of a deposit do you put down? For additional reference if it matters I am not going to David's Bridal but another bridal boutiques and the dresses I'm looking at are around $2,000. Thanks in advance!

I did do a deposit to put a dress on hold I was thinking of. Ultimately though I paid for my dress in full when I ordered it

The answer is probably relative to the store's policies, so I'm not sure we can answer that for you, and there's no etiquette for purchasing a dress lol.

FWIW, I had to put down 30% (Macy's Bridal Salon).

I was required to pay half for production of the dress to start. Balance due when dress comes in.

For them to even order my dress we had to put 75% down on the dress. I also did not go to David's Bridal. I want to a local Bridal Boutique called Ever After great experience Smiley smile

I had to put down half, but the salon I went though gave a discount if you paid in full so it's good to ask if they offer that.

I had to do 50% at my local salon. I think it varies store to store.

Each store has their own policy. The store I purchased my dress from had me put a 60% deposit down, then, I paid for it in full when the dress arrived & I tried it on.

I would say each store is different. I bought my dress on a holiday and saved 20% because I bought it in full that day.

Ask your store. I had to pay it all at my boutique.

The shop I got mine at, I think you had to put down 50% but my mom (my parents paid for my dress) purchased it in full the day I picked it out

Half down, half when it comes. I'd be careful with paying in full to get a discount with this. If it's wrong or there's an issue when it comes in, you at least still have the half to hold over them. If you're paid in full, you have much less power and are stuck with more onerous legal recourse.
