How much is your venue???

kscha925, on August 27, 2012 at 6:24 PM Posted in Planning 0 47

I'm beginning my search of venues..and..well...I wish I was rich. My fiance and I are looking for a unique spot. Unfortunately, we live in a small town with mostly all fire halls or conference looking spaces. Not what I really want for our wedding day. So, I started searching about an hour away and have come across a few places. Once again, unfortunately, they are in the range of **** dollars. Is this a normal price? Is it high? Is it a good deal? One place which is right where we live seems nice, but the cost of food there is ridiculous. Mind you..the prices of these venues is just that..the price for the space. It includes nothing.

Meh.

Ours was 4500 (in May, which is off season, so we saved $1000). This is just for the venue itself (ceremony courtyard with chairs and then reception room with tables, chairs, basic white linens, etc), no food or services. Although, it does include someone to run the show on the day of the wedding Smiley smile

    Where is your wedding?

We got married in downtown Chicago and the starting price for our venue was around $3700. Just the space. No furniture, no food, no napkins, no nothing. We negotiated for some extra bells and whistles though.

You might take a second look at the fire halls and conference rooms and imagine what you could do in that space with $2k for decorations. Florals, lighting, draping, linens, candles, and other decor make a world of difference. Honestly, unless you truly fall in love with something, I would choose proximity and convenience any day of the week. Especially if it saves you money.

I'm getting married in a lodge in a county park. They have the tables and chairs, and a kitchen, and bathrooms of course!

It was $310 a day. I originally rented it for just two days at $750 (they have extra charge for wedding, and over 75 people), and ended up getting Friday as well. So $1060. Friday I got for setup & rehearsal. Saturday wedding of course, and Sunday for cleanup!

The only thing that kinda stinks because I prefer vodka, is that because it's a county park, no hard liquor is allowed, so we will just have beer and wine, which I suppose saves on cost.

A little less than $3800, including tax/gratuity for approx. 42 people. This includes: ceremony and reception, set up/clean up, all linens, plated dinner, open bar, champagne toast, ice cream/coffee/tea served with cake, DOC, and full use of parlor room for us to get ready in/babysitting area.

I agree with Kris in being a bit more openminded with some of those plain Jane halls - you'd be surprised what a difference some decor makes!

We are paying $8,000 (60 per plate but tax and gratuity on a Thursday night). It would have been $130 pp on a Saturday so that wasn't even an option. I also live in CT which is an expensive state to do anything in in general.

When all was said & done, our DW wedding weekend in VT cost a total of $10K for 62 guests(that does not include rings, jewelry or minimoon). It was worth every penny.

My daughter's venue was $140 per person. It included everything: 5 hour premium open bar; table side wine service; champagne toast; cocktail hour: 1 hr passed horsies w/, MTO crab cake station & MTO pasta station; 4 course dinner; Viennese table; coffee/tea bar; cake of choice from local baker; chair covers & linens; choice of floral centerpieces for all tables including the specialty tables; DOC; comp Jacuzzi room for the B&G with a bottle of Korbel; Was it worth the money? There were hiccups. It was beautiful event. My daughter had the day of her dreams. However, in the end, I think the money would have been better spent at a different venue that was on her list: Ballroom at the Ben or the Crystal Tea Room.

If you want to go by way of firehall, it can be transformed with fabulous decor.

I live in Jim Thorpe, PA...there isn't a nice place in site to get married at or hold a reception that is nice and is our style. Scratch that, there is like I said, one place. However, the "lite" catering package is $57 per person and that isn't even for real meals. It's for basically cocktails. It only goes up from there to $70.00 for food. I don't think they allow outside catering.

And just personally, I have never seen a fire hall transformed, but if anyone can lead me to that direction I would love to see it!

Our venue was $1100 - that was just for the space and tables. Catering was another $2300 and the open bar was $1100 for 75 guests. We spent another $1200 on flowers and decor. The cake was $368. So it added up to quite a bit once all was said and done.

I agree with some of the other ladies. You can totally transform a venue with the right decor. See if you can find one that allows outside catering. We saved a lot of money by doing it that way.

Ours was $1500 just for the space that hold ups to 300 people. The rental hours are from 8am-12am.
