how much is normal for a wedding cake estimate per slice?

Judi, on August 29, 2016 at 5:54 PM Posted in Planning 0 29

I just passed by my local bakery and inquired how much it would be per slice for a naked cake with a few flower or berry embelliments. thus particular bakery is well known for its outstanding cakes and I knew it would be pricey but when she said $5/slice that sounded like a lot. considering venues are charging between .3 and 1$ cake slicing fee that's a $600 cake! does that seem right? I expected 350/400 eta: 350$/400$ for a cake for 100 people

The quotes I've been getting are closer to $3.50 or $4 a slice but I've heard of others paying $5 or $6 a slice. See if you can get a few more prices to compare!

The bakeries I'm looking at *start* at $6 a slice for buttercream.

Decorations are extra, delivery fee, cake stand, topper, cakeserving set etc., we're looking at $550 for 40ish servings.

Edited because I apparently cannot read....

In my area? 5-12.00 per slice.

A naked cake is more time consuming than an iced one because it has to be perfect; there is no disguising anything with icing.

I'm in Oregon and I saw anywhere from $3.50 to $6.00 per slice. Our three tier cake for 85 people will be $375, but ours is also pretty simple. No major decorations or anything.

Get cupcakes. Should be cheaper than $5 per slice and no cake cutting fee.

$3-7 per slice is average where I'm from. Includes very simple piping, anything else is extra. Eta- cupcakes in my area cost more than cake.

The place I plan to order with is 2.75/slice for basic cake and fillings, specialty is extra, but the kitchen cake is 1.75/slice if we want to do fewer tiers and have a sheet cake, my venue also cuts the cake as part of the fee we already paid.

Ours is a custom cake and it's $8.50/slice. Traditional at our bakery would have been $4.50/slice.

$4 a slice in Chicago with premium fillings (this also covered delivery), and our venue did not charge to cut/serve the cake.

Are these prices you all are quoting for traditional tiered cakes? FH and I don't really care about having a cake to display. Would it be really uncool to have a baker make sheet cakes that won't be displayed? Of course, it would be from a professional baker with ample servings for our guest count. (Sorry to jump in on your post OP).

That's the normal price in Fl. $4.50 & up. The price you were quoted is what I'm paying for my cake.

My area's average is $3-5 a serving for the cake. Cutting/serving it was included in my venue's package.
