How much did your flower girl dress cost?

Maggie N, on May 3, 2012 at 7:31 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 30

And who paid for it? I just found some SUPER cute ones in the $70-$100 price range. Is that pretty standard (put it this way- I consider a standard bridesmaid dress to be between $100-$180)? Do I offer to pay for it or do I let my flower girls mother pay for it? Another caveat, the flower girls father is one of our groomsmen and we are paying from groomsmen attire, but the mother knew we were paying for that and bridesmaids were buying their own dresses. So would she assume she's buying the flower girl dress?

Mine were 50$ each and i bought them... but thats because they are my daughters haha. i think 70$ - 100$ is a good price, depends on the budget though. As far as who pays for it, its up to you. If my daughter was in someone elses wedding, I would assume i was buying the dress unless i was told differently

Just curious though, why are you paying for all groomsmen attire but not bridesmaids? Not saying theres anything wrong with that, (heck were not paying for any of ours' attire lol) just wondered

$20 each at Costcos and they are soo cute.

The ones I had picked out first were almost $40 each on Amazon, but my grandma was out shopping one day and found the ones at Costcos and sent me a picture of them and I loved them, and so she bought them.

And as Holly said, usually the parents of the flower girls buys the dresses unless told otherwise.

My grandma bought them for my sisters because she was the one who saw them while she was out

My oldest daughter has been in 3 weddings and will be in another (aside from mine) this summer. In all of them the dresses were purchased by the bride. However, I would be prepared to buy the dress for any wedding she's in (guess I've been lucky so far). Mine cost about $13 each from kmart during an after easter sale (marked down from $25).

@Holly, we have 6 groomsmen- FH's brother, FH's 2 cousins who are close in age and they grew up like brothers, FH's high school friend who is practically a brother, and 2 other friends. FMIL said that she and her sister (the 2 cousins mom) would end up paying for 5 of the 7 guys attire anyway (FH, brother, 2 cousins, and HS friend who is like a brother), so they'd go ahead and pay for all of them. SUPER nice of them!

Thanks for the advice! Wanted to make sure I wasn't asking too much!

I got super lucky...I wanted a tutu for my flower girl, as she'll be only 18 months by the time of the wedding and my sister happened to have some from when her daughters were in ballet!

That same sister has had both of her daughters in 2 weddings in the past year and she paid for all 4 dresses. I know 2 of them were only about 30 or 40 bucks, but they were beachy hawaiian print type dresses. Don't know the price on the others, but I'm certain it was more than that, as they were pretty nice.

About 100 from DB. I wish I could have gone lower (since kids grow out of their clothes quickly). I paid for it, but also paid for my bridal party.. customary where I'm from.

The ones we are getting are 35 each from Macy's. Cute little white sundresses. And we are paying for them since the 2 FGs are FHs daughters

I paid for my FG dress, because my uncle had 3 daughters in our wedding. And it was a splurge. it was $200. But it's adorable and once I saw it, I had to have it. Since I was paying, I went for it.

$60, her mom offered to pay because she understands the cost of the weddingis expensive. I am paying for her tiara, mom buys everything else. Her brother is also my ringbearer, mom paying for his tux. I was thinking of buying him a hat for pics, lol.

I had FH ask his bro if he wanted us to buy his daughter a dress. He said go for it lol I was planning on doing it anyway unless they were already set on something. It was $19 from Burlington, and super cute!

Great ideas ladies, I hadn't thought of Burlington, Marshalls etc. I want her to have something that matches the color of my BM dresses, so maybe if the mom can buy a <$50 dress, I'll buy hair bow or sash that matches the BM dresses.

Mine was $30 and I paid for it. I lucked out; a local bridal shop was going out of business and they had 75% off of items and when I saw the dress, i fell in love. I also love how simple it is because she is only about 8 months old right now, will be a little over a year and half at our wedding and the bottom is perfect to hem and the sides are so easy to take in that when the time comes, it doesn't matter that itll be a couple of sizes too big. Her parents, both of which are in our wedding party, offered to cut me a check but I told her its no big deal and that I wanted to do this for her. The dress was originally like $130 I think. I was so happy with the purchase.
