How much did you spend on Wedding Photography

I need to book a photographer asap, but in Seattle, WA they are charging like $3,000 or more. What is normal for 10 hours/all day?

I would look around if i were you... i got a package for $1000 that includes an engagement session (profile pic!), a box of proofs from e-session, all day wedding coverage with TWO photographers, full editing, and a cd with all pictures and all the rights to those pictures! (couldn't pass up that deal). check from out of the city, most small town photographers will travel a little bit.

Oh and our photographer is a recent grad in photography, her package was cheaper than the regular because she is building her portfolio, but she really does AMAZING work, so keep an open mind

You should definetly check out the website ppa.com it the professional photographers of america, you can find one in your area. I think $3000 is a lot, there should be an album included. I am hiring a photographer from New Jersey and I am in PA. He is charginh me $750 for 6 hrs, an album, cd with all images, two 12 by 18 printouts, and 25 wallets. Also, I like to scrapbook so having the cd will be a good thing for me. It all depends. I was also quoted $1400 to $1600 for 6 hrs, and neither package included an album. I think the average cost is arond $1500 in my area alone. Keep searching for someone who can give you a great deal. I like my photographer a lot he is great and the pictures look amazing! Good luck!

    This is my photographer.

He is actually a photojournalist with the Roanoke Times and he has covered stories from the war in Afghanistan to VA Tech Football. He really knows how to capture the moments and not necessarily "posed" shots - which I sort of hate. We are paying about $3500 for the day (which includes his travel incidentals since he is coming from Roanoke).

I am feeling really good about my $995. That's all day coverage! And that wasn't their lowest price package.

We are looking into a photographer that charges $3,200 for 8 hours on wedding day (two photographers), 2 hours of engagement session, basic adjustement to photos afterwards, password protected pictures online, a DVD with all the pictures, and $600 album credit. Yeah it's a lot when you think about it, but we really love their work.

I'm still going to look into other photographers in my area, but I really do not want to go over $3,200.

Actually no, the $3,200 does not cover the $600 album credit, I was looking at 3,800 there for a second. Smiley sad

Oh my! Ours will be $500 but that's one of FH's friends. I know, we are taking the risk but we trust her. She always booked so that must mean she's good. She was done all of FH's friends weddings and they are happy with her work.

It really depends on what you get! I have collections anywhere from $2300 to $9000. Depending on what you're booking, what you want included, etc.

$3000 is a good price though. You should be getting a good photographer for that price. Smiley smile

$3,000 sounds very reasonable for ten hours, plus the engagement photos.

My daughters photographer was on site for six hours. No engagement photos. He charged $1600, although I refused to pay him the final $400 as he failed to take 25% of the agreed upon photos.

We spent about $3k plus...I can't say it was worth it.

Do your homework. Read all the reviews. Even if you are wowed by that photographer, do not succumb to good salesmanship or presentation.

Definitely keep researching and interviewing at least 5 photographers. It is totally worth the time and investment to make sure you have the right photographer for you.

Total we paid close to 6K. Album (a great album) and a canvas, plus 890 pics on a DVD. He was worth every penny! he did the TTD shoot the night before and was with us from aroun 2pm to close to midnight the day of the wedding. Plus he flew from Canada to Cabo.
