How much did you spend on Wedding Photography

I need to book a photographer asap, but in Seattle, WA they are charging like $3,000 or more. What is normal for 10 hours/all day?

That seems like a good price. My sale price is $3200, normally $4000, and you basically get the same thing you do in your package (although I give more images, and they are fully edited). I think you did well. Oh, and my package is only for 8 hrs. on the day of.

I must have gotten the deal of the century - $1600 for 2 photographers, a wedding album, engagement session, & full rights to our pictures!

I'm paying around $975 for 10 hours, all rights to the photos.

Which is great because she just raised her pricing to just 1 package $1,600.

I got a really good deal on my photographer. I'm paying $3800 for full day, unlimited pictures. 10x10 hard cover album, the CD with all the pictures, engagement session, guest signing book of our engagement sessions, small thank you card for the reception, and another photographer who will be taking pictures of the guests as well as printing them for the guests as a souvenir. he's going to photoshop all pictures necessary and agreed to let me design the album with him. my photographer didn't put an hour limit on the day so he will be taking pictures from before the wedding till the last minute of the reception. also its important that he knows what type of ceremony and reception you're having. in my case most photographers only agreed to stay until the cake cutting or the first dance which i didn't like. make sure its everything you want and he will be shooting all the important moments.

I am paying $4500 for 7 hours of photography (no assistant). I get all the proofs, a high-rez DVD of the pics with copyrights, an engagement session, and a 30 page 12x12 book.

It was hard for me to spend 1/4 of my wedding budget on my photographer, but in my eyes, it is one of the most important things. I met with a lot of cheaper photographers, but their work didn't compare to the work of the one we booked.

It did seem hard to spend that much money as Tricia P. said but you will have these photos forever and you want them to be the nicest that they can be so don't skimp in this area. This is the one major area I didn't try to go low budget on.

Well I was very, very, fortunate in this area. One of my co-workers has been a professional wedding photographer for 25 years and has offered to shoot the entire wedding for free. I've seen his portfolio and he does amazing work! He'll edit them and upload them for us, so all we'll have to do is pay for printing!! yeah me!!

We found a photographer with over 30 years of experience for $750. That includes our e-pics which we have done already, all day of the wedding/reception/dance, all editing, all dvds, and rights to all the pics....but we live in small town Iowa, I'm sure the big cities are much more expensive.

$3,000 is about right for that amount of coverage here in Seattle. I tell all my brides - it must feel right when you meet with your photographer. Their photos must invoke some sort of emotion or feeling when you see them. If you feel "meh" about their work then, you'll likely feel meh about your photos.

At the end of the day, the honeymoon and photos are the things you want to put the most money in cause these are the images and experiences that will be with you forever! the photos will tell the story and you can't put a price on that... well for $3000 i guess you can, lol but i think its totally worth it. i'm doing photography and videography for 1800 and i'm in South Carolina but would put more money towards it if i could. if you have a good photographer, DO IT!

We will be spending zero...we simply do not have the money. My sister in law will be taking the pictures for free. And I know she'll do a good job. Photography is really not a priority for me, so it works for me.

Um well I must say photography was my most important vendor and our package is 2500 normally but 2000 for ours since its a weekday and that included engagement pics :-) So we got a good deal. Because for all that it would usually run about **** here in Texas :-) (for a good photographer at least)

I haven't read all the posts above.

We are spending a lot on our photos. They are probably one of the most important things to us and the only thing we get to keep to remember our day by. Our photographer is amazing and his rate is 5k for 2 photogs. It includes an engagement session, photo album and a print credit. I don't remember all the details off the top of my head because it's been a long time since we booked him. I do know we will have personal printing rights and I will be able to post them on facebook and other places like that.

I think that's alot of money. But it does all depend on your area. For our photographer we are paying $700. That includes all day coverage, unlim images, editing to all images, dvd, cd with images, website, and boudior shoot.

    $1500

We found a couple who recently moved to the Bay Area from LA so they decided to have a promotion. Photography in the area is usually $3k not including the actual photos which we could definitely not afford.

    -10 hours of coverage

    -2 photographers

    -1 dvd of all images

    -2 photographers for engagement session

-they post everyone's photos to their website/facebook

    We added:

-($400) 1 Album - which we upgraded for $25 more because the premium album was sparkly and beautiful

    TOTAL: $1925
