How much did you pay for your wedding cake?

We are getting some pretty expensive quotes ($1000!) for a cake for about than 70-75 guests. Is that normal? How much did you pay/are you paying? We got SUPER lucky. Our friend's father (baker who recently retired after 40 years of owning his own bakery) volunteered to bake our wedding cake. He's not asking for any money as he wants it to be a wedding gift to us but we are paying him a couple hundred anyways. Here's our inspiration pic. all layers are going to be vanilla except for the second to top layer. That one will be lemon (my fav!). The icing will NOT be fondant. gross. however i think the flowers will have to be fondant.

$4-$6 is average cost per slice for a fondant and decorated cake. My cake is very intricate and is costing me $5 per slice. We have 200 guests so it is around $1000, but I feel you're quote is way too high for only 75 guests!

I got quoted $10/person for a cake similar to the inspiration pic (two tier feeds around 50), granted I got my quote from Bottega Louie and expected the premium price (still had a bit of sticker shock). It will be four layers vanilla cake with three layers filling- raspberry, dark chocolate, raspberry (yum) decorated with fondant in light pink

Ours was almost $1,000 total. $100 delivery fee. About $80 in taxes. But that was for a 4 tier wedding cake serving 250 and a groom's cake serving 150. Our bakery had a base price of $2 per serving and every thing else is extra (designs). We had 4 layers got two of them with designs(extra $100) and then the groom's cake was a little under $200 (it was a 4 tier king cake).

We are paying $504 for three tiers--the top tier is for us to save and the two bottom tiers will provide 160 servings. Prices vary from bakery to bakery--the first one we went to wanted to charge us $756 for the same size cake. We are not having fondant, we are having their special wedding cake frosting which is very similar to buttercream.

That's a lot! But it depends on the location and design you want. We're doing 200 cupcakes and a small 2 tier cake for just under $400. But we're doing a simple design with buttercream.

3 tier feeds 100 and it was $850. But her husband is a dj and I booked them together and got major discount for the dj. Wedding cakes are ridiculously expensive.

Honestly, idk if this is frowned upon here... but my friend had a Walmart wedding cake that was beautiful and DELICIOUS! Try them?

We got quoted $850 for 75 guest. That was out of our budget, so we went with a more simple design and that one came out to $456 .

That's a lot, but it also depends on your expectations.

My cake was 4 tiers and served 130 guests when saving the top tier (which we did). Each layer was a different flavor and filling (which did not cost extra), with swiss buttercream icing. Including delivery, it cost $600. This was pretty inexpensive for my area!

We're also doing a small cake and a sheet cake to save. It happens to be our favorite bakery, and they don't do wedding or tiered cakes, so that cuts the cost down a lot. It's $275 for ~80 people.
