Tiffany, on June 29, 2012 at 7:09 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 56

I just got a quote back for wedding stationey and it's over $2.5K. If includes letterpress 200 invitations,300 menu cards, 200 information cards,200 accomodation card,200 response card with return address printing and 30 table numbers. I'm nervous about paying that much, but I love letterpress !

How much are you paying/paid ?

I spent about $250 for everything. I was not going to spend a ton of money on things people are just going to throw away, My Venue has table numbers and we're on the fence about programs so it worked out well.

If you love it, can afford it, and it's important to you - go for it!

We spent under $100 but everything came from VP and we had 45 guests. The only splurge item were luminaries for table numbers and a set with our names and date from Etsy. But stationery was on the bottom of the list of my priorities. Our venue printed our menus and it was gorgeous.

50 Save the Date Magnets: $84.11

125 Invitations (including envelopes) + enclosure cards: $212.40

(don't remember how many) Stamps: $89

We're not doing programs, menus (it's a buffet), table numbers, or anything else in that matter.

Personally.... I could not imagine spending anywhere near the amount you were quoted. However, everyone has their own personal tastes. So, whatever you like to choose. They do look nice though (the pictures that you posted).

I agree with Mrs. S. If you can afford it, go for it.

I had a very laid back wedding. My STDs were DIY post cards. My invites were the kind you print yourself & my programs were from VP.

My daughter's wedding is much more formal. We used Kelly King of Goskell Printing & www.affordableweddinginvitations.com. For less than $450, we received a custom design, an invite suite for 120: ceremony & reception invites, inside & outside envels, RSVP cards, addressed envels for the same w/ matching reception reception accessories. The reception accessories: 150 menu cards, escort cards w/ the guests' names printed on them, favor tags & 20 different vintage floral table names. Kelly was great to deal with, patient with a picky bride & even pickier MOB ( ; ) ), and delivered the proofs and product on time. The paper quality is not linen, but I did not pay for it. It was typical cardstock. My daughter wanted gorgeous & that is what she got.

VP is Vistaprint, but that's really more for us who did not particularly care about invites :-)

But it still seems to me you should shop around a little.

My budget only allows for $400 so I definitely won't be going over that....

Yeah, if invites are important to you then you should go for it. You might want to get another quote from someone else only because you should have something to compare it to. I found that we needed to cheep out on some part of out wedding or the budget would be out of control. That's where VistaPrint came in.

For 100 people I spent about $100 on invites, RSVPs, thanks you, envelopes, and place cards.

But if I could have budgeted in fancy letterpress I totally would have. I settled for the linen feel paper.

I went VP all the way! They will send you s bridal sample kit so that you can see all the paper types, sizes, colors, etc. I went with linen paper, then I had FH cut nice scrapbook paper into belly bands that I stuck with VP address labels( only our names and wedding date on) to hold all the insets together. I spent approx $100 total for 70 invites. I used their free postcards for RSVPs (with envelopes), the Free Rack cards for Wedding Weekend events and driving directions! I was very happy with how they turned out and I've had lots of compliments on them.

Wow... I didn't know it could cost that much for invites... I got about 60 invites, plus rsvp, and addressing on envelopes for 300$ I did DIY ribbons because that would've been another 100$... I guess it makes sense since some people are inviting like 200 plus ppl.

Like everyone said, if you love them and they are important to you--get them!

For about 60 invites, we spent less than $100. STD's 75ish.

Invites were low on my list. People just throw them away--except maybe you and the moms! I'd rather spend $2500 on a honeymoon, but that's just me! Smiley smile

I just bought my invitations and RSVP for about 200 guests from Vistaprint by going through retailmenot.com ( I google searched "vistaprint coupons" and the other website came up ). I got everything for at least 50% off with free shipping - spent $91 and saved $98!

We only have 57 people on our guest list right now but since most of them are families right now we are only needing 21 invitations. I don't think we will end up needing more than 30 though. So far we have estimated/budgeted for the following:

    -25 invitations & 25 rsvp cards (123print.com) =$52.50 (includes shipping & had a 15% off code)

-(2) packs of 20 reception cards (actually skinny business cards) and STD (actually chubby business cards) 100pk (zazzle.com)= $32.01 (includes 10%off and shipping)

    -30 pocket folds (cardsandpockets.com)= $34.60 (includes shipping)

The only other things I haven't gotten to yet are direction cards, hotel info cards, menus, and thank you cards, and my finger print tree. As of right now I am only at $119.11. The only reason I had to use several sites is b/c the site I am getting my invitations for didn't have designs I wanted for STD's or reception cards to match. I don't think I will be spending over $200 when it's all said and done.
