How many wedding photographers did you talk to before booking one?

How many wedding photographers did you talk to before booking one? We've met with 3 photographers already and are still trying to decide. Maybe we just need to pick one at this point....

    We talked to three, but I scoped out quite a few more (maybe 15?) via email and online reviews prior to that. The three we talked with were similar and it finally came down to pricing and that one was a husband/wife team which meant we didn't have to pay extra for two photographers, as some solo photogs will do.

    I booked the first one I talked to after doing lots of looking online at portfolios, prices, etc.

    I emailed dozens. Only about 2 dozen responded. I narrow those down to the ones we could afford and the ones we liked the photos they had on their website. We spoke with 3 at bridal shows and met with 2 in person from finding online. I spent about 5 months researching photographers. Not every day, but it took a while to narrow down. But once it was down to who was in our area, in our price range and who we liked the photos best, it really came down to two people. The one was a total jerk in emails and in person. I didn't like their pictures was FH didn't think they were bad. Then we met with another and the meeting went perfect and I love her pictures and FH likes them. So we booked with her.

    Just one, it was a referral from a friend's wedding we were at. The groom was an amateur photog and the bride is very budget conscious so I knew their guy would be the perfect mix. I piggybacked off of their research. haha

    TOO MANY! I had to have emailed way over 20 and met 3 in person. i went with one that was new and the cheapest and recently changed my mind and switched. i hired one that i had shadowed a few years ago and i am happy that i switched. she gave me a deal for a 1/2 day, there is no way i could have afforded her 8 hours( Starting @3400).

    you still have time you could keep looking, the biggest thing is feeling comfortable with them. if your not then you probably will think you look unconformable in the photos too. if you found some one that you like and they are in budget then go for it!

    Emailed a few, met with 1. He was a recomendation from my MOH and I loved his work. We were on out way home from our vacation in Mexico while I was scrolling through Facebook and saw that he was throwing a "Black Friday" sale and booked him right then. FH is a photographer and wanted one of his colleagues to photograph our wedding but Craig agreed to meet and if he couldn't convince him, he'd refund our money.

    FH was very impressed and I'm very happy!

    We went to a wedding expo that had about 10-15 different photographers. We got info from about 4 of them that we liked their style. We had an appointment with one, but she was flakey and forgetful so we cancelled the appointment and met with the other two. We loved them both and one of them was the preferred photographer for our venue. Their prices were the same until we found out our venue would charge us an additional 22% service charge for using their preferred vendor. We went with the other guy. He was very thorough and had a great portfolio and an awesome personality. I also looked at tons of reviews and portfolio for other photographers as well before making our decision.

    I contacted several for pricing and availability, and we interviewed three from that list. Talking to them in person was really important to me. We clicked a lot more with the photographer we booked than the other two that we interviewed, and she seemed a lot more organized and put together too. Those are things you don't necessarily pick up from talking to someone via email or phone, so whether or not you keep looking or pick from your list I would highly recommend meeting them in person (if you haven't already) before you book. A great portfolio is important, but you also want someone you are comfortable with.

    Zero. We were very lucky. My older son's grandfather is a pro-photog and is doing the wedding for us.

    @Vanessa

    22% for what??? And 22% of the cost of the venue? I've never heard of such a thing!

    My venue offers a photographer in their package. I met with 4 of them on their vendor open house night way back. I hated all of them. Decided to back out of the venues photographer, and e-mailed 3 others I was interested in. Ended up booking the last girl, and I cannot wait! As for videographers, I e-mailed 2 companies, and chose the second. I am more content and happy with those two choices over any others.

    We narrowed it down to just two photographers just by looking at their work online. We ended up meeting with the one we liked best of those two and signed a contract with him right away Smiley smile
