How many wedding invitations should I order??!!!

Marzena, on March 5, 2012 at 11:52 AM Posted in Planning 0 13

I counted how many i need to send out and my total as of now is 78, but that will change once i get my FH work list of people he wants to invite, im giving him about 15-20 spots to fill so im guessing about 10 more invitations. I dont want to order too many because they are expensive, but i dont want to run out and end up paying alot more for just 10.

How many do i get if i need lets say 90? Is 100 enough or too little?

Oh and they're not DIY ones they will be done and shipped ready just to stuff and seal.

Just remember - you will likely want to frame one or make some sort of keepsake for it, and your parents might like an additional one (ours did with our STDS) I think 10 more than you have to send sounds like a good number

    I would defintely have extras.

I had two come back from post office all mangled and destroyed so I had to sent two more. Plus I wanted keep one for my wedding album.

I think have some extra is a great idea. I'm not sure exactly how many invites you need but I'd order 100.

I'd order 100. You want to be sure you and FH have a copy for yourselves and extra in case of a misspelling on the envelope or something. This is if you're DIY.

Yeah, you'll also want to have extras in case if some of the invitations get lost in the mail. We've found out about that happening to one so far. You'll also want to have extras in case if you find out after the fact that someone gave you the wrong address for people on your guest list. We had that happen for two invitations. They must have actually arrived at someone else's house, so they never got returned to us. Oh, and one couple that we invited is going through a divorce right now. We're friends with both of them, so we still wanted to invite the two of them to our wedding. Now, however, we need to send them two invitations instead of just one.

It is always best to order a little extra, in case of last minute additions to the guest list, or damaged invitations that are returned. Most orders do have a small amount of overrun, but not usually more than 5 pieces. I recommend ordering even more envelopes also, in case you misaddress or misprint them. If you are thinking you need 90, order 100 invitations, and 110 envelopes. If you end up having to order more later, the shipping costs alone will be $20-30.

Order at least 100. Also, order extra envelopes. There will be a lot of "oops" moments and you don't want to have to deal with ordering more later. I made mistakes on the envelope (addressing) and I would have been SOL if I didn't order extra.

A bride posted a cheat for calligraphy that I thought was a genius idea! https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-forums/my-cheating-calligraphy/5374572c0fdf94cb.html

Our wedding invitations came with labeled boxes (I used a box inviation) but I would have definitely done this. I am giving Edubb a graduation party and I am so doing this for his invites!

EDubbsWife that is an amazing idea! Thanks for sharing!! I really think I'll do that at least test it in a regular envelope first, gold isn't in my colors (red black white & silver) but maybe I can find a nice glitter black letter pen that would look great too!
