How many venues did you look at before you chose "the One"?

Molly, on June 6, 2019 at 3:09 PM Posted in Planning 0 28

I got engaged April 20th of this year and immediately joined wedding wire and started searching for venues. On the 27th we went to a wedding venue and I fell in love. It was the first venue I looked at. It had all of the elements I wanted in a venue: brick, at a winery, rustic, barn doors, etc. I looked at my mother in law and asked if i'd be crazy to put a deposit down now and cancel all the other venue appointments. She said nope, she'd do the same thing! I am STILL in love and am so happy with my decision! How many venues did you look at before you chose "THE ONE"? What type of venue did you choose... rustic, romantic, chic, brewery, etc?

I only toured one venue. If you know what you want and it has what you want, go for it. If you're not in a rush to get married you can certainly take your time but dates can book quickly.

The first venue we looked at was THE ONE! My fiancé and I fell in love with it right away and I am so happy we went with our gut and booked it. We've made a couple of visits since that first tour and we just fall even deeper in love with it every time! I can't wait until July to arrive yet again for our big day Smiley smile

Oh my god I swear I went to like a dozen. It's funny because I kind of knew one was it but we kept looking to see just in case if there were any more affordable or better

A winery sounds gorgeous! We were thinking of that at first but they were all so expensive in my area. Our venue is centered outside of a beautiful 1800's style inn that is cliffside to a beach! The ceremony will be right outside of the inn on the lawn with the ocean as the backdrop. Right next to that is a large, covered deck for the reception. It is just stunning!

That sounds lovely! Especially having the ocean as the backdrop Smiley love

Just one before we picked ours. The first would’ve been it if their prices weren’t crap for what they give you. We chose the second one and I cancelled the other venue appointment I had! We had slim pickings cuz of only having a year out, all the rustic barns were booked. We didn’t want a Sunday wedding, would’ve settled for a Friday but because our venue was being built still we got free pick of the date and month!

We knew we wanted to get married in our hometown, where we first met and fell in love. Because of this, we were aware of several venues before we even started researching. I made appointments to tour 4 of those, all in one day. But when we got to the 3rd location, we knew it was the one, before we even finished the tour. I cancelled the 4th appointment.

The first venue didn't come with enough--just the space, so we would have had to rent absolutely everything--more expensive that way--plus the venue had some restrictions that weren't going to work for what we wanted.

The second venue was lovely, and came with a lot included, but it was WAY out of budget for us.

Number three was a place I have known most of my life, and spent time at (golf course) with friends and family. I knew I already liked it, so it was just a matter of what it came with, and if we could afford it. SCORE!! It turned out to be perfect for us, so we booked it.

Only one, but technically I didn't tour it since we're getting married at the church FH and I attend (and met at!)

Our venue is very romantic, marble everywhere, beautiful columns, and its very inclusive as far as food/drink/decor/ etc. It was the first one we saw but it wasn't actually initially number one on my list. We saw 1 more that day and it ended up coming down to those 2. We went to see the "number 1 on my list" venue the following weekend along with 2 other places but it ended up being very underwhelming once we actually saw it. I am very much a spreadsheets person, not an emotional decision maker kind of person so of course I had to go home and make all my lists and price everything out etc.

I don't think you are crazy for wanting to cancel the rest of your appointments at all, I think if our venue was number 1 on my list to start I would have done the same thing (and it would have saved me a lot of Excel work lol) but I just had such high hopes for that other place Smiley smile

We looked at 2 in total in person. The first was i side a hotel and we immediately knew we didnt like it. the woman who gave us the tour was extremely nice and followed up with us multiple times. Now to find out the hotel is now set to be demolished!!

The 2nd venue we saw online and is about 10 minutes from our home. My fh ubers on the weekends and he had picked up someone from there one night and they said they attended a wedding. The following weekend we drove past it and said what the heck lets stop in...they were actually setting up for a wedding happening in an hour! We spoke to the event manager and got info. We went back a few months later and signed the contract.
We looked at multiple places online but nothinf caught our eye.
We are very happy we chose the 2nd venue we looked at

We actually loved the first venue we saw but decided to look at another. But after that, it was clear the first was our pick so technically 2, though we went with our first choice!

That sounds like a gorgeous venue, post pics. I toured 6 venues before deciding on a cute white barn. The first venue I toured I had been looking at for months, even before I was engaged because I knew it was coming. I fell in love with it before I even saw in person. However my FH pointed out how small the dance floor was and with our guest list it wouldn’t have worked out well. I was devastated but the search continued and I ended up choosing the 2nd venue I saw. I continued to look because my FH wasn’t able to tour that one with me and we already had all the other appointments set.

We looked at 5 venues in person, and about 30 online. We knew we loved the first one, but didn't want to decide before seeing more. We ended up booking the first one! It's an equestrian center with great Colorado mountain views, a huge bridal suite & groom's suite with a cigar room, and we have the venue all to ourselves the entire day.

7 hotels... and we immediately decided on the 7th one as soon as we saw it. We’re doing a DW in Vegas, so last month we flew out and did hotel tours in the mornings over 3 days. But being out of town, it was necessary for us to look at all 7 venues we scheduled appointments with.

In your case, if you love it, then go for it! That way you don’t stress yourself with having to decide between multiple locations.

Three. The first 2 were flops. The third one I went in and LOVED. Went to dinner and was super pumped to find out my fiance agreed.

My fiancé and I looked at 4 before deciding. The one we ended up going with was the second one we looked at. We waited until we were sure about our decision to book.

We toured at four venues and went with the third one we visited. It was a hard decision between two of them that had similar vibes, but we went with our gut and I'm so glad! We're getting married at a historic mansion that has a modern barn and patio right on the river. It's perfect for us because my fiance proposed while we were fishing.
