How many times did you get your engagement ring resized?

Nicole, on June 26, 2015 at 1:17 PM Posted in Planning 0 48

My fiance is a practical person and asked me for my ring size before buying the engagement ring. (Thus the proposal was somewhat expected, haha). I remember distinctly trying on a 7 and it being too small, and a 7.5 being too big. So my original size was a 7.25 when I finally got the ring.

It was just a hair too large... so I had it resized 1/8 smaller last week.

Then I wore it for another week and decided the 1/8 didn't do very much and I needed another 1/8 off, bringing it to a size 7. I dropped it off yesterday, and I'm going to pick it up right now. Yay! Hopefully it should be a perfect fit now.

How many times did you need to get your ring resized?

Just once and he also asked my ring size before popping the question, but it felt too small. Now it spins. I just deal with it spinning, it doesn't fall off but I'm afraid to wear it in the shower or swimming

When DH proposed the ring was too big. It was supposed to go from a 7 to 6.5 but they forgot to add the .5 so they took it to a 6 and it was too small. Once they got it to the 6.5 last year I haven't touched it.

Remember that your fingers are going to swell with water weight, weight gain and the heat...sometimes my ring feels tight around my finger and the next day it will spin all the way around on its own

I gave him my ring size and the jeweller refused to resize it before I had actually tried it on :/ I had it resized just once, but I must say, if I had gone with the size the jeweller tried to convince me to have, I would have had to enlarge it by half a size. He gave me a speech about how he's a jeweller and knows better. Yeah, well now that it's summer it barely fits my ring. I can't imagine how it'd be if I had listened to him and it had been smaller. I think they do it on purpose to get more money.

I went with FH when we picked out my ring. Once we chose the ring, it needed to be sized from a 7 to a 6. Once I started wearing it, though, I realized I needed more like a 5.75. So it's been resized twice now. It usually fits fine, but occasionally spins which drives me crazy - but there's no way to avoid it since it fits nice and snug when my fingers swell.

When he bought it, he got it sized to a 5, then we replaced the basket and I'm pretty sure it went up to a 5.5, then I got it sized to a 4.75.

Just once from a 9 to an 8. It probably could be a little smaller, but I don't like rings super tight and it doesn't fall off. (Also, the jeweler bent my ring so I am a little scared to have it done again).

Luckily, just once. I got checked and re-checked on the size. I'm probably a 4.25, but they could only do a half size so I got 4.5 and it seems to fit pretty well with a little room if I'm bloated!

Just once. FH got a 6.5- and I got it resized to a 5.25. I live in WI- so it spins like crazy in the winter, now that it's hot out- it's better.

When FH proposed the ring was too big by half a size, it was a 7. I went to Kay's and they sized my fingers and put a ring guard on it for the time being so I could get used to wearing the ring (I've never really wore rings). The ring guard was a little tight and when I brought it back in to send it off to get resized they told me that whoever put on the ring guard put it in as a 6 1/4 instead of a 6 1/2, so they resized my fingers again to make sure my ring ringer was actually a 6 1/2 and then they sent it off for two weeks to be resized to a 6 1/2.

I haven't had it resized. Which is kind of weird. I've lost 40 pounds, but it fits exactly the same.

I had mine sized down once after the engagement but just today I realized it is still way too big. It will spin and sometimes go up to my knuckle. I guess I will go soon but I am nervous I will "compromise the integrity of the ring" based on a friends opinion. Meh.

I just never wear it when showering or swimming.

Just once. Apparently when we went ring shopping the consultant didn't write down my ring size so FH had to guess. He guessed a bit too large. Our jeweler has a 30 day exchange/resize policy, so I changed a few other things about the ring as well, like reducing the main stone size and thus the halo size, and adding sidestones. It was basically a different ring after (well, still a cushion cut sapphire with a halo), but FH and I both like the one I ended up with a lot better.

Twice for me, too. FH knew my ring size but---apparently I told him the wrong size haha. I thought I was a size 6, although I'm more like a 5 1/2. I originally got it sized to 5 3/4 but then decided it was still too loose, it was spinning around on my finger a lot so I got it sized down to 5 1/2 and now it fits perfectly Smiley smile

I've had mine resized twice. DH bought it as a size 7, even though he knew I was a size 6, because he was so darn excited that he couldn't wait. Haha.

Now I just got it soldered to my wedding bands and sized it up to a 6.5 because they are all so thick together, I didn't want it to end up too tight.

0 The size in the store when we looked at them fit fine. The exact one I wanted to look it they didn't have, so when they got it I stopped in and tried it on. Apparently DH plan was as long as it fit he was getting it, which I didn't know. DH is a little big, but due to the material it's made out of I guess they can't resize it. So, it's fine for now and he has been working out a lot, so if his fingers shrink we will prob just get an insert for it.

FH took me to look at the ring he found before he proposed (so I knew it was coming, too!). When he gave it to me it was loose (size 7, I believe) so I got it resized to a size 6. It's perfect now. At first I thought it was too small, but only on really hot days or after working out (when your fingers expand and get bigger). Other than that, it's perfect and I never take it off other than to put lotion on. I wear my in the shower, working out, etc.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one having it resized twice! Although, I do admit I did feel a little silly making them reduce it by such a tiny amount, haha.

It fits perfectly now. Its a good amount snug in the intense heat outside, and sitting inside in the very cold air conditioning I no longer feel it will slide off my finger. Yay!

The original band was sized down for when FH proposed (after I had tried it on in the store) -- but I guess I got it a little too loose, not wanting to have sausage fingers lol It was way too big for everyday wear, so we resized it to a 5.25 but it's still a bit big; the center stone is always falling to one side or the other. But the jeweler said we can't resize this band anymore, because it's really thin and the micropavé diamonds will pop off. I guess, if I lose more weight, I'll need stabilization beads put in.
