How many times did you get your engagement ring resized?

My fiance is a practical person and asked me for my ring size before buying the engagement ring. (Thus the proposal was somewhat expected, haha). It was just a hair too large... so I had it resized 1/8 smaller last week.

Then I wore it for another week and decided the 1/8 didn't do very much and I needed another 1/8 off, bringing it to a size 7. I dropped it off yesterday, and I'm going to pick it up right now. Yay! Hopefully it should be a perfect fit now.

I had mine resized twice. I wanted to make it a little smaller after that, but FH convinced me to wait till it got hotter to decide. Glad I did since it is fitting really snug right now. During any given day it fits perfect, loose, or really snug! Im use to it now, but at first it drove me crazy!

I've never had it re-sized. The size most stores keep in stock fits me perfectly.

FH knew my ring size from when he got me my "promise ring" like 8 years ago. I have no idea how he remembered, but said he was relieved he didn't have to remember anymore haha

Once. The stone would always shift to the side of my finger and when winter came around it would slide completely off. We took it to the jeweler who made it and he tightened it on the spot just slightly. My wedding band curves around the stone so he tightened that one more so it will stay put when I wear them both together

Never had to have it resized.

Have you considered that if you're going to wear it with a wedding band this will effectively make your rings wider and thus you'll want a slightly looser fitting ring...???

FH and I went to the jewelry store together to look at rings and have my finger sized. He had it resized after he bought the ring he picked out, but I think it fits comfortably enough and have no plans to change it.

LadyMonk, I've considered about the wedding band; I'm pretty sure I want to keep both rings separate.

It really was too loose for everyday wear before. I was constantly worried about it slipping over my knuckle if it got caught on anything, or if I shook my hand too hard. I'd rather have it comfortably sized for six months. If I change my mind and need it bigger for the wedding band, I'll just get it resized one last time. I don't see that happening though. Smiley smile

Once thus far. My E-Ring actually fit perfectly right out of the gate, but all together with my set (bands on either side) it becomes too tight. So I had them size everything up by 1/2. So now my E-Ring is lose when I am cold, but will hopefully be fine once I am wearing everything together in a few months.

I had mine sized up when he first got it for me, then lost 20 pounds, so had it sized down. Since then it's been fine. My jeweler didn't go by size, though-- they had a ring of example rings, and I had to try them on till we found the size that was snug enough.

My engagement ring fit perfectly. FH bought it at an antique shop, didn't know my size, and it was fate that it worked out. My band, on the other hand, we ordered together and I ordered a 7 because that's always what I thought my ring size was. It's huge. We will need to take it to be resized before the wedding.

Just once. FH had asked a while ago what size ring I wore. I wasn't exactly sure, but I thought it was about a 5 or 5.5. He ended up getting the 5.5 to be on the safe side. Turns out my fingers were smaller than I thought. I waited til a couple weeks ago (got engaged in Feb) to get it resized in case my fingers swelled in the summer heat, and I still had to go down to a 4.5!

When we first got engaged FH ordered the ring in a 9 since that was the size my claddagh ring was, I thought it fit right until I went to sleep one night and went to pull the blankets up and my ring went flying off my hand, I had it resized to a 7.75 and it spins like crazy some days, I might get it resized again when we pick out our wedding bands

3 times! I ended up a 5.75. I was wearing a 6 for awhile and then it flew off at a club and we literally had people searching the ground! FH was NOT happy and we went the next day to resize it. He had been telling me to becareful and he didn't even want me wearing it that night, but I didn't listen and I almost lost it. Not to mention we were on a rooftop deck and the floors were wood beams and it could have easily slipped through the cracks. I got SO lucky my cousins husband actually found it within a couple minutes!

My e-ring and wedding bands came from Jared with no sizing needed. Mine are just a little loose without sliding over the knuckle. I prefer it for those days when the hands may swell.

I would suggest that you stop getting your ring re-sized. Every time they do they cut into it and solder it back together. This is done on the bottom of the ring where it receives the most stress from being worn and when you re-size you weaken that area even more. You will never have a perfect fit ring, because your fingers will always retain or lose water.

When FH had my ring made it was supposed to be a size 6, but they sent a 7. I had to resize it down to 5.75 and then I lost some more weight and got it sized down again to 5.25. I think I might need to go and have it done again down to a 5.

I've never had my ring resized. Fit well the first time.

I've never had my ring resized. When FH looked at rings together before he proposed, the jeweler sized me. My ring was custom made so they just ordered it in that size. One thing that really surprised me after getting my ring was how much my fingers vary in size throughout the day due to swelling. Usually the ring fits perfect, but sometimes it is so loose it spins and other times it is right and I have to take it off because it is a little uncomfortable.

Once DH bought an 8. Had it resized to a 6.5 before the wedding. Fits perfectly

Just once. FH wanted to surprise me and plus wanted me to get properly sized after the fact, so he just bought what the store had. We had to size down.

Just once. The person who sized me was fantastic and took into account that my finger would swell in the summer and shrink in the winter. It fits great.
