How many registries should you have?

JAG, on June 3, 2012 at 12:38 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 27

Should you only have one registry? If you have two, should you have the same things as you do on the other registry???

I have 3. One is with Target and another at Bed, Bath, & Beyond. I did not register for the same items at each, unless I needed duplicates (like soap dishes for 2 bathrooms...I liked one at Target and one at BB&B). We also registered for our cutlery at Cutco. This is a very expensive brand of cutlery, but it's for a lifetime and both of our families swear by and own it themselves. So far, our Cutco registry is the only one shopped from. I suspect it was one of those family members. (:

We are doing Macy's JC Penneys and Wal-Mart. We only registered for kitchen/bedroom linens, dinnerware and small appliances.

I had 3 too and was wondering if that was too much. glad i am somewhat in the norm. mine are target, wal-mart, and kohls. some of my stuff is duplicated, but like everyone else said, it is stuff i want more than one of. (sheets, kitchen items, etc)

    I have 2, Bed Bath & Beyond, & a honeymoon registry.

I think 2 or 3 is sufficient. You want to make sure your guests have their options, but more than 3 seems overkill to me. Some stores like walmart, target, they carry some same items. I found items at walmart for maybe a buck or 2 cheaper than BBB but I wanted all my items on same one

I have 2- Bed Bath and Beyond and Macys.

I think 2 or 3 is good because it gives people a lot of choices at different budget ranges. I chose Macys because they give you 5% back of what people bought to use in their store. and BB&B because they always have coupons and I know people appreciate getting a good deal.

2 or 3 is always good, I have 3. Macy's Bed, bath, and beyond, and target. I did this because I wanted people to shop were they were comfortable, My mil will shop Macy's before, Target, then I know others that may not go near Target. I put different things at each store except for stuff I don't mind duplicates of like towels.

We had 2: Macy's and Amazon. Amazon was better for people who prefer to shop online and ship the gifts. Macy's was better for those who prefer to go to a store. We didn't have the same items on both, but did get a couple of duplicates from Macy's.

    Agree, no more than 3.

We had 2 small registries. No duplication. We registered at BBB for luggage, cookware, knives, and some kitchen gadgets. We registered at Crate & Barrel for everyday china, glassware, tableware, and barware.

Just make sure that the majority of your guests, especially older ones, are in close driving distance to an actual store where you're registered. Some people are into online shopping and some people like to shop in person, it's good to give them an option.

I wanted to just have a honeymoon registry but my mom said I should give the option of actual gifts for the bridal shower so I made a small one at Bed Bath & Beyond. I don't think anyone should have more than 3 tops.

We have 2, Amazon and Kohl's. We like that Amazon has a universal registry (you can add anything for sale on the internet to your registry) but we have older family members who are not internet savvy and Kohl's has sales all the time and is where my family likes to shop anyway.

We did one at BB&B and then Khols. Per my MIL, she wanted guests to have options. We did register for a lot of the same things in case most people go to one over the other. We live together already and don't NEED a whole lot but we register for things that it would be NICE to have new of, like an entire matching bed set and curtains for the living room. We mainly want people to go to the registry we made on honeymoonwishes.com. You can set up any kind of honeymoon and have your guests contribute to it. We are taking a cruise and we have it so our guests can buy us drinks or pictures taken on the boat and excursions from each port. I do agree that you shouldn't have more than 3.

We have 2: BB&B and Amazon. On Amazon we used the universal registry to register for Cutco, we also have family that swears by it, as do we! I tried to use Target but the site was too wonky for me and I heard too many bad reviews about duplicate gifts because the registries didn't update.

I'm glad to see that we're not the only ones using Amazon. My sister said we shouldn't because not everyone uses the internet... but that's why we have the BB&B registry, right?

We have 3: Kohl's, BB&B, and Target. We have basically the same stuff on all 3 registries, however it varies from store to store since brands aren't the same. That way we can get stuff we need but people have a choice of where to buy it, especially if their price point varies for how much they can afford.

I think 2 or 3 is a good number! We chose Macys, BBB and myregistry.com (because you can choose items from any store!)
