How many place settings did you register for?

9... I wanted 8 and 1 extra incase I broke one.

(and I think 12 setting for flatware)

The every day set I already have is for 8ppl, but I'll be registering for a nice set of 12 for entertaining. And if I register for flatware I'll probably go for 16… there are never enough forks~

8 seems to be the number!

@Hayley, knowing me, I will break one, so I will go one above whatever I decide is a good number.

@Kimberly, good point with the flatware, I think I will register for more flatware than place settings.

Absolutely none. I registered for China with my first wedding, and never even took them out of the box in the 6 years I was married. They were a total waste, and took up ALOT of storage space.

You have to look at your personal life. Do you entertain alot? What type of entertainment- casual get togethers, or will you be hosting formal holiday dinners?

If you do decide to get them, I'd say no less than 10 settings. Also, go for non-real silver flatware. That requires polishing every time you use it- adding to the stress of making the big fancy meal.

We didn't register for fine china. I actually found a set that I liked at an antique store and bought it there since it was so cheap. I have service for 12 plus serving dishes and only paid $125.00.

For our every day dishes, we have service for 16.

I registered for only 3 places. Most people we know shop at the same three places so we kept it there.

We did not register since I have my great grandmother's antique china). It is a set of 15 (looks like one broke a some point). I would advise going with 12 place settings and 16 for flatwear.

I'm with Jessica, I registered for a 12 piece. I broke it down like this, I have a family of 4 plus my BIL and he has a family of four plus a future SIL. So that's 10 right there if I wanted to have a nice dinner just for them.

I didn't register for China, but for everyday plates I did 12. Thank goodness I did, I have used them all at once already (plus had to wrestle up some extra plates)

We are not registering for China and we definitely don't want any. We had 8 settings already and simply registered for 8 more of our current sets so that as we inevitably break plates, bowls, etc... we can replace them.
