How many people typically stay around to watch the bride and groom leave?

I expect about 150 people. How many people typically stay around to watch?

Maybe 10% of our guests had left by then. Our reception wasn't long though. I have been to a wedding and left before the bride and groom left. It was nearly 11, and we had an 1.5 hr drive home.

It's going to depend on when you leave. We shut our party down so there were maybe 10 people out of 150 left. If we had done a "grand exit" we probably would have planned to leave earlier.

Most of our guests stayed. We had 125 & I'd say there were still over a hundred people there. We also had an after party. Around 50 people came (pretty much just our friends), so that might be why people hung around.

Our reception went late (2 a.m.) and we stayed until the end. There were about 20 people or so left of our 135 guests. Most of our older guests and people with young kids left by 10-11 p.m.

I think it will really depend on what time of day your reception is and what kind of friends you have-- are they more party animals, or will they all be rushing home to babysitters?

We had a lot stay... we we're staying upstairs but when the reception was over we stood by the stairs and said goodbye to dozens of people.

I've only ever seen one grand exit. Whoever was there just lined up on either side of the bride and groom and they ran through like football players.

The last wedding I went to, almost 95% of the guests were still there for the grand exit. But that was probably because the bride and groom left before 9pm from a reception that started around 5pm.

Omg now I'm nervous my wedding is ending at 130am on a Friday night but we have a blocked rooms at the hotel the venue has so maybe that may make people stay

It depends on a lot of things

    - what time you end up leaving

    - age of your guests

    - whether or not guests have children

    - whether or not they care about open dancing

I would say at least 75% of people stick around for the cake cutting, but once that's done, it's only the people that stay for open dancing.

Typically they would leave before the guest but our DJ had the guest on their feet dancing all night so we still had about 50% of our guest still there until the end.

Thanks. Abbey, you basically described our wedding. Starting at 5:00 and out by 8:30. So this means more bubbles Smiley smile

I've never heard of this until I got on this site lol. Usually where I am from (Philadelphia) the wedding ends and you either go to the bar nearest the reception or you gohome/hotel. There is never this "Grand" exit. Why would you want leave earlier than everyone else just to have one? That sucks to me lol. I wanted to party for as long as I could so the night didn't end!

Pretty much all of our guests stayed, but it was a 4 hour reception that ended at 9pm.

We had 109 people attend and I would say about 10 of them left before the final sparkler exit.

We'll be the last ones leaving our reception. The party will NOT continue without me.
