It was supposed to be 6 on each side. FH asked if he could add 2 more. So now it's 8 on his and 7 so far on mine. Which has been difficult because I don't have many friends. 4 of mine are sisters.

That's great that you're involving your sisters in your wedding! Do you have a Maid of Honor or are you just having bridesmaids?!

Worked fine for our small wedding. No hurt feelings, no extra costs for anyone, no drama or extra stress. All our guests were special to us. I got ready with my mom & sister. Perfect decision for us!

I'd love some input on this too. I personally don't understand the point of wedding parties. I've been to weddings in my twenties where the couple had seven plus people on each side. In my thirties, I don't feel that a bridal party is needed and I'd feel bad placing a financial burden on friends.

That being said, my FI is an only child and really wants to have a bridal party. My hesitation is that I have an older sister (and I'd love to follow tradition and have her as my MOH), however, she has mental health issues and there's no guarantee that she'd be stable enough to attend the wedding let alone take on responsibilities of MOH. My thought is to have my sister serve as MOH (with limited/if any responsibilities) and have my older brother serve as Man of Honor and take on speeches, smoothing out my train, etc. Has anyone done this? Does know if this is allowed at a Catholic church ceremony? Thanks a mil!

We had two total--my two children.

A MOH doesn't really have any responsibilities, other than standing beside you at the wedding in the outfit you choose. So you could have your sister, and just see whether she's capable of first getting the outfit, and then standing up on the day. And if she isn't, your brother would still be there. A wedding party isn't a religious obligation in the Catholic church, so there shouldn't be any objection to having your brother as an attendant.

We had 7 bridesmaids, 2 Junior Bridesmaids, 6 Groomsmen, 2 Junior Groomsmen, 2 flower girls and a ring bearer. We included all of our siblings, our best friends and a few of my younger cousins that I'm very close with. It wasn't too difficult of a decision, it was pretty easy to tell who we are very close with and will be in our future.

People complain about large bridal parties, but I don't see a problem with them at all. We didn't have any "drama." Everyone seemed happy and excited to be apart of the wedding. It might be slightly different for us though because no one in our family has gotten married in a long time and most of our friends have either never been in a wedding or only have once or twice so it was more exciting for our friends then "ugh again"

We have 4 and 4 technically. My two nieces and his nephew are in the wedding party plus my MOH, bridesmaid and his BM, plus two grooms ladies. I knew I wanted my nieces because they have been so excited about the whole thing and my two best friends had to be up there with me. My fiance had a hard time narrowing it down though.
