How many of you KNEW he was going to propose?

I did not know. I just gave birth to our daughter and got back to my room. All of our family was there and he said "I want to thank all of you for being here on such an important day with us, Ana will you marry me?" And gave me my engagement ring! I was sooo happy I cried, and said yes.

Here we are after I said yes, please excuse the fact that I just gave BIRTH! I look nowhere near that now..lol!

Kristen, your story takes the "cake" so to speak! I absolutely ADORE your ring, and always have on your profile pic. Now that I've seen the side profile it is absolutely 100% the most perfect ring! Mine is about as close as we could come with just buying it from a chain store. It's square, rather than round, but has the baguettes around the center stone and down the band. It also has a profile with a swirly design, but heart in the middle instead of the flower. And to think he designed that himself...AMAZING!

Well we'd discussed marriage for a while and then had a come to Jesus meeting when we actually set a date. But he wasn't done paying for my ring and refused to officially propose until he had my ring. I had no idea when but I knew the ring was coming. But even though the wedding was pretty much planned, all the major details worked out and everything and it was literally 3 months before our wedding, he did put thought and effort into proposing and actually got down on one knee. Which I did appreciate b/c he could have just been like "here ya go" lol!

To answer the question, I had control over the whole thing. I'm way too much of a control freak and always thought it unfair to the guy to have all that pressure and sexist that he gets to decide when to ask me when to marry him. He'd been ready for an engagement before I was. So when I was finally ready I told him I was ready. And then I suggested we get rings, and we did. And he insisted he get to keep it and ask me when he wanted. I said, nope, this is a decision for two people to make not one. He kept it for about an hour and got down on one knee at the house I was housesitting. I insisted, no, get up, its already done, we're already engaged.

But I still love other people's proposal stories, it's just not for me!

We had been discussing getting married for awhile. One night when we were on a date. We stopped at a jewelry store and looked at rings. We picked on out and bought it. I had to have it resized. So we gave them FH cell number. So that I wouldn't know when the ring came in. He kept the papers in the wallet. Even though I knew he was going to do it soon I was still surprised when he proposed.

I knew because I drove him to go get my diamond! Ha!

Well my situation is a little different because it was not the formal proposal, I have been waiting a while for this moment and he is so nervous about these kind of things that whenever he would talk to my parents or his parents about getting me the ring, he would tell me! Yeah its like that I swear that is why I am never surprised when it comes down to gifts and stuff, because he can't help himself to hide a secret, so he called me at work and told me to find a vendor to have our wedding and I knew he was serious then if not I did what he said anyway.LOL!

Well we had talked about getting married and were talking about details dates colors etc. With out a formall "proposal" But when he actually got me a ring and got down on one knee I was surprised. It was my birthday and I cried it was perfect

We went to look at diamonds together, but I did not know that he was planning to do it so soon. What is super sad... I wanted the suprise, but the Jeweler's assistant called ME to let me know that my ring was ready. I was in shock and about started crying. I told her to call another number and never mention that they called me. He proposed 5 days later.

I knew sort of...I proposed but had started paying on the rings ahead of time..he payed them off and then proposed to me...So him buying them off was surprising but I pretty much TOLD him we would be marrying lol he had never seen the rings ahead of time though until he payed them off..good thing I know his taste because he liked the ring that came with our set

I knew he was going to do it, just didnt know when. he actually didnt either. he had a "plan" but wellll it didnt happen that way so it was a shock to us both.

Like Kristen's, my proposal included a bakery. I also knew the proposal was coming because FH is really bad about keeping secrets and gives himself away too easily. He invited me to dinner at an Italian restaurant and he had this huge smile when he asked me to keep "Saturday night open" and to not make any plans. That was the first hint. The second hint was the day before dinner he called me and said "make sure you dress nice". He never cares what I wear!! The third hint (I was sneaky with this one)..I knew he had just gotten his mother's wedding ring (she is passed) because he showed it to me & I had tried it on like a month before (it was too small for me) and I knew where he kept it, so I went to look & it was gone! I called my sister who's also my MOH and told her I thought he was gonna propose cus the ring was gone and she did the best she could to throw me off the scent. So when we went to dinner, I kept thinking he was gonna propose there but it didn't happen..and just as..

I was giving up thinking he was gonna propose, he walked me infront of a bakery and inside the display was my cake! He got down on one knee..said a bunch of pretty things that I can't remember cus of the excitedment and I said yes!

We've been together for about 8 yrs & never really talked about marriage. I was TOTALLY surprised!!!! it's been a lil over 2 months & I'm still shocked-LOL!

Oh..P.S. His original plan was to propose at Dodger Stadium but one day I was on his laptop and saw that he had googled proposing at Dodger Stadium so he then waited 4 months after that to think of a more creative proposal.hehee It kinda sucked cus we went to about 30 dodger games last season so every game we were at, I kept thinking..is he gonna propose today? In the end, I'm glad he didn't do it that way cus it seemed every game we went to, some one was being proposed to there.

I knew he got the ring. He really sucks at keeping secrets and was so excited, so he just let it out. I did not, however, know when he would propose. That one caught me completely by surprise. But I loved it! He was a little nervous, though, I think.

I did not know when it would happen but I knew it would. He arranged a trip for us to fly to SF for the weekend of our anniversary which is July 3rd. He was super secretive about the whole thing like taking my mail key so I would not see any plans he made. He had my ring delivered to his work! He had bought tickets to a Giants game and made reservations at the Hilton. We went to the beach in Santa Cruz and I kept thinking any minute he is going to ask me, we drove back to our hotel got ready for dinner and still no ring! I was ok but a little disappointed because I wanted it to happen. We got back to the room and he got down on one knee and asked!! I was so excited I started crying and said YES!!

We just talked and talked and talked and finally agreed to get married. We went to an antique shop a couple weeks later and picked out the ring together.

It was all very US. we're not the most romantic people ever. But it was perfect.

I "knew" because my ring is my grandmother's ring, which i had inherited years ago, and had to give to him beforehand! however, leading up to it... there were so many romantic opportunities (nye fireworks over sf bay from high up in the hills!) that i thought for sure were going to be it... and when they weren't i felt like - ugh. Then the day I moved in with him, i was in the middle of cleaning "our" bathroom because he and his former roommate weren't the cleanest people and bam! he proposed while i had windex and papertowels in my hand! haha...

We were ring shopping & one of the girls called FH over & showed a ring to him. His eyes lit up so I wanted to know what all the fuss was about. They came over, I saw the ring & fell in LOVE with it. I didn't know when he bought it but unfortunately at the time we were living with a drug addict (extreme circumstances & too long of a story). The only reason I knew he bought it was because he had to keep it in our lock box. After ~1 month it was our 3 year anniversary & we went to the restaurant we always go to on that day. For some reason my dinner was awful and a typical Nor' Easter was going thru. I was ready to go home but he wanted to walk around (I was wearing 3 inch heels, great). Parked & walked to a little square of shops with white xmas lights on & fresh snow. He was ahead of me, pulled the box out of his jacket & asked. I didn't believe for 1 sec it was real since I had been on him for the past month but it was real. I made him get in the snow for me to believe it, lol.
