How many of you KNEW he was going to propose?

While reading some posts on here I realized that alot of girls KNOW that he has bought a ring and say they are "waiting" on the proposal.. I had never even heard of that, but reading these WW message boards I see it happens all the time! I was completely surprised with my proposal and knew nothing...

I had never even heard of that, but reading these WW message boards I see it happens all the time! I was completely surprised with my proposal and knew nothing about it.. And wouldn't have it any other way, but I definitely see the perks of "knowing". What do you guys think? How did it happen for you?? Just nosey and making conversation Smiley smile

I knew, but didn't know exactly when... We picked out the ring and payed for it together (our money is combined). He waited for about a month AFTER we bought the ring to actually ask... I am NOT a patient person and was getting ansy that he hadn't asked yet! I was pretty sure he was going to ask me at sushi with my family, but when I told my MOH (who KNEW when he was gonna ask) she told me I was unfortunately wrong, it wouldn't be that night... I was kind of dissapointed, and then it WAS that night at sushi! And my MOH knew all along!

I had NO clue. I had kind of just got comfortable thinking he would do it when he got a little more successful with his business he would go buy the ring. He has always told me "I would have proposed to you years ago if I had the money for the ring." So I was thinking he would pop the question in a couple years from now. I was dumbfounded, I didn't even realize he was down on one knee holding a box open when he proposed, and when I saw the ring I was like "Where the hell did you get that???" like he found it on the ground or something lol.

PS You should all read my proposal story on my profile. It's probably one of the cutest/funiest you'll ever hear. I wish I could put the video on here Smiley sad

It was a complete surprise to me! Of course I knew it was coming eventually.. we were living together, had talked about it and looked at rings. I had no idea that he already had the ring. We went to SC for the weekend and he put a message in a bottle and left it on the beach for me to find. It wasn't until I had finished reading it and looked over to see him on one knee that I finally figured out it was for me!!! I kept looking around thinking we were messing up someone else's plan!

I had NO idea. I was shocked beyond words which doesn't happen very often. We'd talked about marriage but I really thought it was going to be a while before he proposed.

My friends and family were in on the 'surprise' too. Which kind of annoyed me that they kept it from me, ha!

I knew he was going to propose but I didn't think he bought the ring I had feel in love with. When I went back to the store it was gone... I was devastated. Turns out it was on top his frig for months before he proposed to me. Smiley smile

We discussed getting married a lot. And he would pull different types of rings up online and ask what I like. Initially I resisted knowing anything about it and I would have been happy with anything he picked. But after a while we both realized there were just so many types...and he was overwhelmed and asked me to go ring shopping with him. We began looking at rings together in stores and it was such a fun experience. Looking back on it, I'm really happy it happened the way it did. We both love our ring and it's even more special bc we took the time to pick it together. I had an idea of when the ring was coming in..so I did know when he was picking it up bc one night he called and said he'd be late home from work. Knowing him, I knew he wouldn't be able to keep it in his pocket for long...so he came home and about 3-4 hours later he was on his knee proposing. Smiley smile

I knew that it would happen one day that week, but I wasn't sure when. We had picked out the ring together. I would have been fine with one that I found online, but he wanted to get me something a little more unique, so we went to an antique shop and I found one that I fell in love with. We put the ring on hold and then he went back to buy it a while later. I knew he'd gone to pick it up, because he'd finally gotten the paycheck he was waiting for and he was in that part of town already, but I had a ton of school work to do that night and already got home late because of another class, so I didn't expect him to do it that night. But when I walked in and saw the table set with candles and a flower, I knew it was happening that night. He made me wait all the way till dessert though! Brought it out, in the box, on top of a brownie sundae (the box was on top of a strip of tin foil on top of the brownie).

I knew he was going to propose, but had no idea when. All of the times I *thought* he was going to propose came and went, and I was at the point where I was like eh, it'll happen someday! We were heading to CA to visit his mom in January, and the night before he asked, Do you have any idea when I might propose?, and I was like uhhh maybe in CA?? He says, nope, absolutely not - and I totally bought it. As it all turned out - he proposed a few days later in a cake shop in Long Beach CA Smiley smile Even in the cake shop, with a sign next to a cake that said "Turn around Kristen" I still had no clue what was going on. Fortunately, with a little help, I figured it out Smiley smile http://www.mysweetandsaucy.com/2010/01/a-proposal-wedding/

I knew he had bought the ring because I accidently saw the bill from the jewelry store. And evenetually he knew that I knew. But I still had no idea when it would happen. And being the stinker he is he waited for 6 months!!! ugh! After proposing he told me he hid it in the cabinet of our fish tank, which is so annoying because I went in that cabinet to feed them every day and never noticed.

I had no idea. I was so shocked that I was speechless. All I could do was stare at the ring like it was some foreign thing. Needless to say I was so silent I made my FH sweat a little. lol.

For Christmas he got me a weekend trip in Napa Valley in April so I figured it would happen there but then we were going to Cirque de Sole (my xmas present to him) and he said that he wanted to get all dressed up and go out to a nice dinner first (not like him). I said no because I didn't want to spend any more money, he threw a fit and said he made a reservation already (never in the 6 yrs we have been together has he made a reservation) so I knew something was up. He also came home with a haircut, not something he does until its like 3 weeks past necessary. I figured it would happen at cirque de sole not dinner but he suprised me at dinner. The ring was a suprise though, didn't know he he got it.

I had gone "on strike" shall I say. LOL. We had bought the ring in March, and it was June and I had had it! I told him I was sick of the responsibilities of being his wife without the privilege and that I didn't know how else to make this clear to him except withholding. I had threatened to move out until he was ready to make this commitment. It was ugly. LOL. So he said he'd do it within the next couple weeks. I'm a control freak who doesn't like surprises. So I really didn't give him much of a chance for him to plan anything. The proposal was perfect, though. Not romantic or mushy, since neither of us is like that, but it was "us."

We talked about it and he even said when would try and buy the ring but when that time came I didnt think our money situation would allow it. I was actually with him when he bought the ring and didnt know it. We were at the mall together and I went into a clothing store and he told me he was going to check out another store, which is totally normal for us, I didnt know it was a jewlery store. So I was totally surprised when he proposed.

I knew my husband was going to propose because he had planned a romantic evening for us for our second anniversary and my mother kept insisting that I look 'glam' and 'gorgeous' (which she has never done before). He was also excessively nervous which was kind of cute. Our engagement was quite a disaster though as it didn't go as perfectly as he would have liked. Looking back on it though, it was quite funny!

I didn't know per say. We had talked about it a little and I would tease him about it now and then. Then one day I was sitting around day dreaming about how he would propose and 3 days later on Christmas morning he insisted we take a little drive. I had it pretty figured it out but acted suprised anyway. He gave me his mothers ring. Come to find out he had had it for around 4 months and all his family knew what he was up to.

I knew, well sort of. We went and picked out my ring and put it on layaway because he wasn't approved for the store credit card. Well a few days later we decided to not buy the band and just get the engagement ring so that he would be approved. So we went and picked it up. He wouldn't let me put it on, it was so cute how he kept it from me. Well that night when we came over he took FOREVER talking to my mom downstairs so I knew that something was up since I didn't know when he was actually going to propose. The next day I went over to his parents house, where he was living at the time, and on the walkway were 3 pieces of paper. Will You and an arrow pointing to the door. Right when I opened the door he was right there on bended knee :-). I knew he was going to do it that day I just didn't know how or when. And it was SO him because he had the papers held down with lift blocks for lifting trucks..LoL(I took the blocks off before taking the pics but put one back before taking the pic)
