How many of you changed your mind about your dress and purchased another?

Monica SC, on September 2, 2015 at 11:33 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

Not me! Once I picked it out-that was it, and I love it even more after alterations, but I see it posted so often on WW and on my FB group about dress regret and then the bride actually going out and buying a new dress. It just seems so strange to me. I have never personally known a bride that did this.

I've heard of a few, but it was usually because of family drama that they would get another one

I almost changed my mind! Had the moment and everything, the next day I woke up and thought what have I done. Went and tried on more dresses and nothing compared. After I put my dress on for the second time I knew it was the one. Everyone including my FMIL cried and she never cries. So happy with my pick and can't wait to marry my best friend in it.

I did. Bought dress number 1. Couldn't get another dress off my mind even though I couldn't find it to try on. About two months after I bought dress 1 I found the dress I'd been looking for in my size. Made an appointment to try it on and was able to exchange it.

I'm in the process of doing this now. In my defense though, I'm planning from Guam which is a very small island in the Pacific. There's nowhere for me to try on the dresses I've been online stalking for months! So I ended up buying a dress without ever seeing it in person. Not the best move! I don't hate the dress; I actually like it fine, but I just don't feel like the bride I've always imagined I'd be. I don't love it! So next month I'm going to the states to visit some official bridal salons! Not a cheap trip, but hey...

I can't even imagine doing this. One wedding dress for each of us seemed ridiculously expensive to me; I can't imagine buying a second. (No one ever gets their money back for the first one.)

I've been thinking about it but I'm going to do my first fitting and try to have the whole ensemble to fall in love again.

Slightly different, but... why do some people buy an expensive dress for their wedding, and then buy another not quite as expensive dress to wear at the reception? Something else I'd never heard of until I came on here...

@jennifer, I guess it might be a cultural thing. We usually have the big fancy ball gown for the church ceremony, we then change into something more comfortable for dancing. It's very common but, I was just called ridiculous by my own friend. So, I guess it's not as common for others, o well.

I don't know if this counts, but I ordered a dress in July, looked at pictures my sister sent me immediately after ordering it, and burst into unhappy tears and started hyperventilating in the parking lot of the bridal shop. I refused to go back in the store, but my mom brought the owner outside to talk to me. She agreed to hold the dress order for a few days so I could sleep on it. I cancelled the order and got a full refund 2 days later. Yeah, I didn't share that story with anyone. I haven't been shopping since.

I did. I bought a gown from Tradesy after I had tried it on in the store! I was so happy and it was SO beautiful! Until the dress came and it was NOT the color advertised Smiley sad I was stuck with the dress.... until I found a local bridal shop who put me in a BEAUTIFUL Bonny gown! Three days after purchasing the Bonny, I sold me old gown for a little less than I had paid Smiley smile

I did. I bought my first dress last Father's Day and loved it! Unfortunately, I wasdiagnosed with cancer two months later and had to have a port put in my chest. My dress did not cover it so I went back to DB and asked to exchange my dress and explained my situation and they let me exchange it even though I was one month out of the last date they would normally allow exchanges. I found a dress that would cover the nasty scar that I have and walked out with it that day, relieved and happy.

Where did you sell your dress? I’m feeling like I bought too quickly and can’t get another dress out of my head. I’m afraid to go look because i don’t know how to sell mine. I’m not in a position to just lose all the money on it.
