How long did you book your photographer for?

Kylee, on September 20, 2017 at 12:21 PM Posted in Planning 0 38

Hello everyone!

I'm starting to look at photographer options and I was wondering: How long did you have your venue booked for the day of your wedding (reception and ceremony) and also how long are you having a photographer there for?

I have my ceremony and reception at one location and we have it for 10 hours, will a 8 hour package be good or should I bank on an all day package?

We booked mine for 7 hours. Getting to the venue at 2:30 for formal pictures and a few getting ready ones then my ceremony starts at 5pm and reception starts at 6:30 she will then stay till 9:30 which is enough time for dancing pics even though we have our reception till midnight she recommends not book her that late because she ends up getting the same pictures over and over again so I wouldn't do a whole day.

10 hours. We started getting ready around noon, photographer showed up at 1 and stayed until 11, and by that point a good chunk of guests had either left or were just doing the same old stuff (dancing, drinking).

8 hours should be plenty. I'm a photographer and I had my wedding photographer for 6.5 hours (everything was at one location though - our house/backyard).

I generally recommend no less than 5-6 hours for a couple. But usually 8 hours is plenty. You don't need all of getting ready (you only really need the end of it). And you don't need the entire reception, just the highlights and maybe an hour or so into dancing (dancing/drinking mostly starts to look the same after a while).

We have ours for 8 hours which is plenty of time. He'll probably come to the hotel around 2pm, then we'll head over for a first look/bridal party pics at venue, then he'll stay til about 10pm.

1 photographer for 6 hours...We are doing some slightly staged getting ready shots (because we will mostly be ready), ceremony/reception at the same place, and then she is leaving after an hour or so of dancing and cake cutting. I feel for a 65 person wedding this is ample time (pro photographer agrees), but if we had more people or more logistics, 8 might be better.

We have ours for 10.. I really don't think we will need that much time, we had 8 but our package gave us an additional 2 hours free.

We hired two photographers for all day coverage (10-plus hours).

He started at 2:30pm with detail shots and getting ready photos (2 different locations).

    First look was 4-5:30pm.

    Ceremony began at 7pm

Reception ended at 12:30am, but they left about 11:30pm.

We are using one photographer for 6 hours. We aren't having a first look. Our ceremony starts at 11:30 am and the reception goes until 5 pm. Our photographer will be there from 11 am - 5 pm. I'd like some pictures of my dad and I before we walk down the aisle.

I think I only need a photographer for 8 hours but he said he stays a full day which for him could be up until 12 hours.

My contract was for 10 hours. She and (second shooter) showed up around 12:30, towards the end of getting ready at hotel. then went to venue with us--first look around 2pm, all group and family pics 3:30-5, ceremony at 6, send off at 10:30. I wanted them to stay through the send off because I have always thought those photos are cute, but I could have done with out about 1/2 of the 400ish images of people dancing from the reception. I am glad I had them stay though, because sure enough one of my favorite images of the day is from the send-off!

We had 10 hours of photography (12:30 to 10:30) and 6 hours of videography (3:30-9:30).

It depends how important photography is to you. 8 hours is probably enough, but I don't regret having more than that.
