How long did it take you to address your invitations?

Gen, on November 30, 2018 at 12:01 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 11
(For those of you who addressed your own invites.) And how many different sittings did it take to do it? I’m planning to address them myself (my FH’s handwriting is basically illegible so he’ll be no help lol) but I have recurring tendinitis in my wrist, so if I write too much all at once, it starts to flare up.

I’ve got about 70 envelopes to address, but luckily I have about 3 months before I send them out! I’m just wondering how long it took you all to do this, trying to figure out when I should start, and how to space it out throughout the next few months so I don’t destroy my wrist.

I have 76 saves to address. My wedding is November 2019 so I have some time before I need to send them out. I’m starting addressing tonight. I don’t have tendinitis but my usually good writing starts getting illegible if my hand starts to get tired. I’m planning on doing 5-10 at a time over the next month and sending them out in mid-January

5-10 at a time sounds like a good idea!

For our save the dates we bought labels with our address and then we wrote to the mail to.

We wrote everyone down one night after work it took about an hour we had like 105 I think. We both good handwriting. Then a different night I put the labels on and the stamps & it took me probably an hour or less.

Can you run them through a printer and mail merge the addresses on, so it won't bother your wrist at all? You can pick a pretty font.

We didn't do our save the dates, I paid someone to do them. But I've done Christmas cards before, we usually send about 70 out. I take 3-4 nights to do it, about an hour per night.

This was the only thing I delegated haha. My handwriting is terrible and if I didn't have people offer to help, we were going to pay someone to address them. My grandma did my mom's family (12 invitations), my dad's wife did their guests and my guests (40 invitations), and my MIL did their guests and H's guests (35 invitations). They were all done in a week.

My handwriting is awful. My mom's is nice, and apparently so is FH's mom because his cousin told me his mom did all of her calligraphy for her wedding invites. This is all fine and dandy but I do not think I can ask them to do it because our engagement photos will be just before we need to send out STDs. Basically have to have my brother slap in the pictures to my design and get to printing then. FH and I both hate winter so there's no way we are taking pictures sooner. Eeepp!

It took me 2 or 3 days to address our 84 save the dates that we sent out. I hated hand writing it because my hand would cramp, I'd mess up and throw the envelope out (which means I used way more envelopes than I should have needed) and I had to keep stopping because I was getting impatient and my handwriting got worse the more I wrote out.

After that, I ordered our invites from Minted and had the addresses printed on them for me. When I got my invites all i had to do was add stamps and call it a day. So much less stressful and easier.

Overall it probably took me a couple weeks to address ours. I would do like 10 and my handwriting would start deteriorating so I'd have to stop before I got annoyed haha. There were times I could power through more. What we did was had a table (our kitchen table) and it was like invitation station with everything laid out so we could stuff them and whenever I was kind of bored or had down time, I'd just sit down and start addressing. If you have the space, maybe just find somewhere to set them out so you see them and gradually start working on them.
