10 months is plenty of time. I've got almost everything planned out. You should get your dress no later than 6 months before the wedding. I would go ahead and start looking for it now.

We booked our venue in October and are getting married in May. Everything is DW and we did it in 7ish months from another state. You can do it!

You can buy your dress whenever you want. Styles change though. I bought my dress last summer, and ended up buying another one last month that I absolutely fell in love with.

We planned in 6 months. I had to have a dress then venue before I was allowed to move forward with anything else. If you have to order a dress they say it can take up to 6 months for it to come in, and being soo tall my mom worried that would be the case (luckily not!).

We officially got engaged in April 2009 and we got married January 2010 so that was 9 months. To be completely honest I started looking for venues in March 2009 because of our situation (Long Distance Relationship) I knew he was going to propose in April when he came to visit, he wanted to talk to my dad first. So I guess realistically we planned it in 10 months.

You have plenty of time. We got engaged in December and our wedding is set for September. Most of the things are already done. I'd say go get the dress first just because it might take a while to get the dress in and you need time to alter it, etc.

Yes! We got engaged last November, and are getting married in October. We have everything set but the rentals, and even there we have a proposal just haven't picked out exactly what we want. You can do it! Use the checklist here to stay on top of things

I got engaged November 2010 and am getting married July 2011. I have 8 months and with about 3 months left I am doing pretty good. If you have a place in mind for a venue call them first because with my summer wedding we ran into places being booked. Once you start planning and get one thing booked other things will fall into place. I ended up finding my dress for half off and bought it off the rack as is. It is a beautiful dress and it fits me really well. If you start looking for dresses and find one you really like than get it. I am sure you can always make payments so it is paid when it comes in which usually takes 3 months. Good Luck!!

We are having a 7month engagement. It is more than enough time for me and I am doing a lot of DIY projects: making the bridesmaids necklaces, making all the flowers, bouquets corsages, boutonnieres, and arrangements, and many more fun I deas. I am also making a tree out of branches I found on our land, spray painting it black and will hang the escort cards on it. By no means am I having a uniform wedding. I bought all vases from St. Vincent De Paul which is a similar to goodwill but less expensive. I got the vases for $0.25 each but they are all different, which I love Smiley smile Weddings can be done inexpensive and in a short period of time it just depends on what you want. Also it depends on if the venues you want to use are available. if you have an open mind and don't have your mind set on ONE place than you have more time to work with.

We got engaged on Christmas Day of 2010 and I'm pretty much already done with everything, well, as much as I possibly can be at this point. All vendors are booked, my dress and BM dresses & shoes are done, FH and GM tuxes are done, and so are the little details...if you hit it hard, then 10 months should be PLENTY of time.

While I bought my dress in late late November, by the time it happens I will have only been planing my wedding for about 110 days. We will get married 2 weeks short of a year of being engaged. And I've had to take "time off" due to a death in the family and my mother having surgery.

10 months is plenty of time. You can do it!

I have to agree with the others. 10 months is plenty of time, but it also depends on how much time & energy you can actually put into planning and finances. We got engaged Thanksgiving day 2010 and getting married 6/4/11. Alittle over 6 months. We have everything done and worked out, just paying off some vendors and trying to put together a playlist for the DJ (which is the hardest part for us).

We planned ours in under 6 months (Jan-July), and my SIL planned hers in about 10 weeks (Jan-April), while working full time, making her own dress, and setting up all the coordinates for a wedding for 150 people.

Really, I bought my dress in Jan and had it in March, and the only thing not done by then was the menu and the completely final guest list.

Mine will be about 8 months of planning, but it took me 2 months to get everything booked! I'm all ready to go now, all I need to do is get my favors and invites ready! Smiley smile Best of luck! It will be great no matter how little time you have! Smiley smile

It's def enough time, we are having a 6 month engagement. Like the others, as long as your finances are in order to pay for it and places are available.

Like many others have said, it really depends on the dress. I just bought mine and it's not supposed to be in for 6-8 months. and then add to that any time for alterations. everything else can most definitely get done in that time. but depending on what dress you get, and where, that will be the deciding factor.
