Congrats on your engagement! It can be done in 10 months. Always make sure that you keep organized, and you are on top of things. Don't forget to ask for help when necessary as well. Finally, unexpected things can happen, so stay calm and enjoy the planning process.

My wedding is march 31 2012... we have the venue, photographer, my dress, a cake topper, possible caterer, and the invites... i think 10 months is ample! if you feel pressure is getting a planner an option? wait is it only 10 months? I thought I had a full year here

I got engaged on Dec. 24 and we are getting married on June 25.... so everything was planned in 6 months. It can totally be done and it has not been too much to handle (with help from WW naturally!)

I think if you are organized, really get moving, and essentially treat it as a more than part time job - you can do it!!

the dress you need to start looking for now - - it could easily take 6 months to be made, and then you will have to do the follow up fittings and alterations... so it could be close. not all take that long, but just know it is a possibility.

i agree with the other ladies as well -- it really is more can you afford to get married in 10 months. start getting quotes and negotiating -- and see what you can budget and comfortably afford by then.

it will all come together! and you have lots of ladies here to help you get through it.

    congratulations!!

About a year is fairly standard for planning a wedding. You can do it in less time, but keep in mind the early bird gets the worm. If you wait too long, your favorite venue, DJ, catering company, photographer and/or florist might be booked.

10 months is plenty of time, I started my planning in November 2010 & getting married in June 2011. Iorder my dress October/November & received it the first week of February

Yes, it's 10 months for me. But it doesn't feel like enough time in the beginning. Once you get the big 4 booked; venue/caterer, photographer, florist, music; you are good to go. Smiley smile

We had a 14-month engagement. Right after we got engaged, I found the rabbi, synagogue, and at-home reception venue, and we booked our reception musician. A few months later, I started buying the materials I eventually used to make our chuppah (Jewish wedding canopy). Eight months before the wedding, we bought our dresses (at a consignment store, so we took them home the same day). It wasn't until 7 months before our wedding that we did any other planning. So yes, it can be done in less than 10 months.

It really depends on two things (1) Money you have available (2) How big your wedding will be. I got engaged in December 2010 and we are marrying July 2011. It has been a smooth process because we had the money ready to do it and our venue is all-inclusive so I haven't had to do the running around like most brides. So it's been a smooth process. Plus we are having a pretty extensive wedding with 150-170 guests.

I definitely agree with everyone else! We got engaged on October 31, 2011 and will be married in June, so 7ish months when all is said and done. I wasn't sure it could be done either - I already had too many things on my plate when I got engaged. I was especially nervous since there are only a few venues where we live, and our first choice is one of the most popular! We got lucky on the venue, but the key to everything else is organization!

Use the checklists offered on WW to your advantage -- start with the big things, like you said, of dress and vendor and divide the rest up into manageable pieces by week. Also, I definitely suggest a binder where you can keep everything. It is extremely helpful to have it all in one place, and always have everything when you meet with one vendor or the other. I have all the big things done and many of the details and we have 3 months to go. Good luck and enjoy it!

Definitely. My friend who got married last year planned hers in 6 months and her's was beautiful. I've been engaged since June 2010, at that point we had the date set for May 21, 2011, and between then and Thanksgiving I had my dress bought, I was looking at BM dresses but never made a final decision on them.. and still havent lol, and had flowers somewhat figured out, then next thing I knew I blinked and it was 2011 and the May date was 5 months away and we hadn't made a final decision on where we would get married (a church or outdoor) and I told FH I needed more time.. but that was because I was slacking a bit on planning lol *(I took a break around the holidays from planning lol). We decided around the end of January to move the date back to Sept 10, so from that point I have 8 months to do everything, and even before we set the new date, all I had done was flowers figured out and a few ideas for centerpieces, but the centerpieces changed completely. As long as you stick to cont..

Because of a "different" situation and Military living, i had to plan my wedding in 3 weeks!!! And i wouldnt have changed it for the world !! I am so indecisive that if i planned for months and months like most, i would have drove myself INSANE and changed my mind a million times. It was just as beautiful and just as detailed, so YES... that is PLENTY of time!!
