how long are you expecting dinner to take?

Angela, on March 20, 2014 at 2:30 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

We had our tasting yesterday to choose our menu (it was amazing btw! so exciting..)

but we are doing an appetizer, then salad, then choice of 4 dinners and they are menu style, so people choose when they get there. I didnt want this to take forever even though I want it to be elegant and nice. I am expecting 160-175 people and our wedding coordinator is saying the whole dinner start to finish should be about an hour and a half. I dont want it to be any longer than that because I want everyone to party after! How long are you thinking your dinner will take and what style of dinner is it? buffet, family style, sit down etc Smiley smile

Mine is buffet style with about 75 guests. Our DOC said she would plan about 45 minutes for dinner.

I'm thinking probably about an hour to an hour to maybe an hour and 15 minutes? We also have an appetizer, salad, and main course. I'm not counting dessert in that timeframe.

We will have buffet for approx. 150 - we are doing our timeline with an hour and a half for that, then an additional half an hour for the dessert bar (we are doing several different desserts and cakeballs instead of sliced cake).

Ours was a sit down dinner with salad and then the main course. We had 135 people and took about an hour.

Most weddings I've attending have been plated meals - at least 4 courses - with speeches interspersed throughout the courses. Dinner is usually 2-2.5 hours.
