Hello, this is my second marriage, his first. We got engaged a few months ago. We have a relative that is ill. IMO they are giving up, we want them at our wedding . I'm going dress shopping tomorrow with my MOH.I'm not a girly girl, love my jeans and t-shirts.So finding something I like will be hard.I'm just looking for advice.Thank you.

My DH and I were engaged on the 4th of Jul 2015, and had set a date for the 2nd of Jul 2017. We had issues being able to save money with our house, and the kids... so we ended up just deciding to do it. This was about 3 months before we had our ceremony on the 30th of Jul this year. We pulled it together, had a back yard wedding followed by a BBQ. We rented chairs for all, some tables, and a tent. I did not get enough tables for everybody to sit and eat, because nobody ever does that at a BBQ.

Essentially, I'm saying it can be done, but not a big formal indoor wedding. You may have to be happy with something small and more casual.

ETA... I am also more apt to be found in my jeans and T shirts... In fact I changed back into my jeans w/in 45 min after the end of our ceremony.

I've seen weddings put together FAST, we were thinking about getting married fast (under 6 months) and looked into using lastminutewed.com before deciding on a DW (and still under a year from proposal to marriage). Where are you located? I think they're only in select cities, but that's listed on the website.

Congratulations Jennifer, I'm sure we can get a church, friend of family. A small reception with food and cake.I'm just so upset I can't think clearly.

Fall bride, yes a dress off the rack is a great idea, I want something elegant but not to expensive.

Do a small ceremony package somewhere with an off-the-rack dress, once you get your license and officiant you can technically do it whenever.

I'd do a courthouse wedding in a simple white dress and go to a dinner/restaurant afterwards.

I planned mine in a month. You could go to the courthouse and have a dinner reception at a restaurant afterwards. That would be the quickest, no-hassle, stress-free plan.

Yes, that is but the relative can't be there. With his family it can come together.I'm still the bride and want to plan, does this make sense?

@Holly C he is super picky, with food.We have someone else who has a business in food, just a menu.

I put together my medium size (60 guests), pretty formal/traditional wedding in less than five months so easily done. You can get an off the rack dress (doesn't even have to be a "wedding" dress) or order one online. I ordered a dress from David's $99 sale and got in within a couple days. Not sure how small or formal you want to make it...totally doable though!

If you don't want to do court-house-then-restaurant, which can happen in less than a month, your next best bet might be an all-inclusive venue, so once you have your date, you have 90% of your planning done, and you only have to get the frills-- DJ, photog, etc.

Look for an all inclusive venue. Get a dress off the rack, have your groom wear a suit he already has or gets off the rack, forgo a BP or have them wear clothes they already have, get simple bouquets right before the wedding. It can be done, just prioritize and try to consolidate as much as possible.

Buy off the rack, look at an elopement package. Most are put together so they are all-inclusive. I looked at a couple for up or 25 people when we were planning, and they had dates within a couple weeks. Beyond that, I think a JOP or civil ceremony with restaurant after would be the way to go. Rent out a room at a restaurant so you can still have your first dance, cake, etc.

You can definitely do it. Venue is probably the hardest to do with short notice. And the money. If you have everything you need you can do it. Where are you located? If you hire a planner, they can definitely get it done for you.

As soon as you can hire an officiant you can organize a wedding.

Get your VIPS together (10-15 people), get married, go to dinner. There's your fast wedding.

You can totally do it! We are not officially "engaged" but we are getting married in 3 months. We decided 2 weeks ago and in these past 2 weeks I have purchased my dress, booked our beautiful venue, caterer, photographer, wedding cake, hair stylist, bought my (fake) bouquets, bought my daughters their flower girl dresses, and bought the majority of the "ingredients" to make my centerpieces! I have been amazed at how I got all of that done in 2 weeks. Finding a venue that offers multiple services definitely helped, our venue is our caterer and takes care of a basic floral package and colored sashes for chairs & napkins. I love this site the best for planning & timeline, and I'm using the knot wedding planning binder which has an express engagement checklist. Just don't waste any time talking to vendors without first telling them your date, and for dress shopping make sure they know that as well. I got lucky and my dress will arrive end of this month and need no alterations (based on me trying the sample in my size). It can happen! Good luck to you!

You can do it! I threw a lovely wedding together in three to four months. Buy a dress off the rack, and get a wedding coordinator if you're doing more than a small courthouse wedding Smiley smile

Go to the department store and get a dress off the rack from evening wear. Make reservations at your favorite spot- Hire an officiant, take your immediate family to your favorite spot and buy dinner and drinks for all.

    Boom.

    Done.
