How far in advance did you request the time off?

Just curious how far out did you notify your employers of the time off for your wedding/hm? A coworker looked at me like I was crazy the other day when she asked if I took it off yet and I said no. I have 7 1/2 months left. I work at a credit union and I got a promotion so I'm starting at a new...

Just curious how far out did you notify your employers of the time off for your wedding/hm? A coworker looked at me like I was crazy the other day when she asked if I took it off yet and I said no. I have 7 1/2 months left. I work at a credit union and I got a promotion so I'm starting at a new branch on the 14th, so I wanted to wait to talk to my new boss about it anyways. But we all use Workday (one single online "portal" for hr/time off, etc for the whole company). So any request I make can be seen by any boss if my situation changed in the future.

We are getting married the same day right before spring break so last week I told my boss about taking week and a half off but I only can do it officially six months before. So she'll get my papers on 09/24/17

I'm getting 2 weeks off. Getting off the Wednesday before the wedding (on a Saturday) honeymoon Sunday to Monday, returning to work Wednesday. I told them about 4 months before since another one of my coworkers will be leaving for maternity leave around the same time

My boss knows my wedding date (is invited too) and she knows my honeymoon plans. I haven't officially put anything in our time off system yet. I probably will once it's like Feb/March

I put my request in today Smiley smile September is a busy month for us and I don't want to hear it if I don't give them enough notice.

I'm actually thinking I should mention the time I want fo take off soon but I won't make an official request until my honeymoon details are finalized.

I put in the time as soon as we booked the venue, so over a year in advance.

I've told my employer but we don't have to put in PTO until 6 weeks before the date.

I put it in my PTO request since march and I have a feeling I won't get my week off and if I get it I need to look for coverage for my shift

Ugh! My boss informed me requesting 2 weeks off was career suicide... she said when people can afford to take 2 weeks off it the company realizes they can manage just fine without you

I told my job as soon as we set the date even though I couldn't officially request off that early. I'm gad I did too because I got a promotion to another department and my old director was able to vouch for the days as if they were pre-approved. Especially because I'm getting married on a holiday weekend

I put it on our department calendar over a year ago. No one knows that I am getting married and I don't plan on making any announcement. In our company people come and go and take 2 to 4 weeks off depending on your level. Half of the folk there have gotten married, had babies, and no one knew until after the fact. LOL! I work for such a weirdo company. SMH

I'll be switching commands in the navy so I haven't been able to ask yet. I don't think I'll know for sure until about a month out. Definitely stressing me out

I told my boss when I was hired in may that I would be getting married in September, so she was aware up front (yes, I'm the person that gets a new job a few months before getting married). We actually talked about it this week so that we can make sure my responsibilities get covered while I'm gone. So, officially, like 6.5 weeks?

I put mine in over a year in advance. Then I followed up to make sure it was going to be given to me before I booked my venue.
