I reached out to a couple who had really good reviews on both WeddingWire and The Knot. One was way too much money and the other replied back with something more manageable. She was super sweet and I met with her when I was down there for vacation last year. I also suggest looking at their Facebook/Instagram and even google their names to see if you can find pictures from past clients not posted on their official accounts/website.

Thank you! That is what I have been doing! Also, a few friends of mine left me some names! The planner whom I have liked the most is in Rome Italy tho! So it is very restricted to skype calls and messages!

Where are you getting married? I live in New York and getting married in North Carolina. Your wedding planner should be the location you are getting married since you need him/her there that day or if by you, then you need to fly him/her to the location. Your wedding planner should not be in any other location than those unless you are flying him/her to the wedding.

I will agree that planning is not the same being away from your planner, but I am only hiring month of since I love planning and everything is so much fun so far. I got 90% of my vendors booked three months before the end of July last year and my wedding is in June.

For me it came down to what services they offered and I ended up picking the one that had a guest management add on service. She handled hotel blocks, transportation, and if the guests had questions. But when initially interviewing I wanted someone who had planned weddings at my venue and had examples of weddings in my budget.

Then you are looking at these choices:

-Your wedding planner to be in Italy

-Your wedding planner where you live and you will fly him/her to Italy

-Two wedding planners - one in each area, but they have to work very well together

Getting married in a different country is a lot of work so unless your venue is fully functional without a wedding planner, you want your wedding planner to be over there. Anyone where you are will not be able to offer you the same service unless he or she has done weddings in Italy before - including once you get to Italy and need assistance with vendors and setting up.
