How did you "propose" to your Maid of Honor?

sierra, on September 26, 2014 at 11:04 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 23

For those that have a MOH, how did you ask her (him?) to take on that role? I've found some cute ideas on Pinterest, but I'd love to hear from you all.

I'm not sure I even asked her. She's my best friend, we knew she was going to be my MOH. The others I asked in person, phone or text.

I did the same as Ashleigh. My MOH is my best friend. She knew automatically that she was my MOH. No questions asked. I called everyone else.

My MOH is my sister so we always knew she was going to be my MOH, so when I got engaged I just told her "you know you are my MOH right?" She just laughed and said she knew, but she jokes that she wants me to give her a gift to ask her. I was going to anyway, but it was just really funny when she says she wants to be "officially asked". That's my awesome sister for ya. Lol

I took her out to coffee and asked her. I hadn't told her I was engaged yet so I gave her her coffee and pretty much stuck my ring right in her face. We had the excited screaming "OMG you're getting married" moment together and then I asked her to be MOH.

My little sister gave me a bottle of wine with a special label on it asking me to be her MOH when she got engaged. I thought it was pretty cute. I think anything more elaborate than that is kind of excessive.

I called both of them, my sister was the second call I made after getting engaged and my friend I called the next morning, and I said "Hey, so you're my MOH right?" It was already expected.

Me and my friend that I have known since I was about four have always said that we would be each others 'maid of honors.' So I went to her house to ask her she kinda beat around the bush....so I asked her again and she said no lol. I was pretty shocked since we had always talked about it....but...she's just not that kind of take charge person. So I asked my future sister in law over text message because I wanted her to be able to think about it since it's such a big task. She was really happy to and she has been a freaking god send. My friend that said no got engaged like a month I think after me and she is having someone else be maid of honor for her wedding too. No hard feelings.

I took my MOH on a 6 clue scavenger hunt. She's my little sister, but we are 6 years apart. It's taken many years for us to grow into being friends. I wanted to do something extra special for her to let her know how much I value and love her. It was great. Her best friend was in on it and everything.

For my of them, I did a bridesmaid survival kit. In addition... I got them a jar of jam with customized labels.

I wanted to make a big deal and officially ask my girls. Here are pics.

MOH was the first person I called after he proposed, if she could have come through the phone (she is thirteen hours ahead of us) to murder my banshee screaming arse I think she would have! I have to admit, we tag-teamed to plan the wedding and her sabbatical/dig schedule around each other so she could get back into the country for the wedding.

She's my life-long best friend, so it was mostly a given, so just went like "I'd like you to be my MOH." "Yay! Of course!" That was the extent of it.

If you want to have fun with it, you can - but don't feel obligated to do anything than ask.

Haha mine was lame. I always have the best intentions but.. yeah. We called our moms after we got engaged, but didn't think to tell anyone else directly/in person so we changed our fb statuses immediately.... and the texts started coming in! Happy, asking if it was for real, and a few family members asking why we didn't call to tell them before posting it on fb. I was excited and I've never been engaged before so we didn't even think about it! I was like, our moms should know first and that's as far as my brain got me haha. So my best friend was like congrats! Save me a good seat up front at the ceremony! And I texted back "haha. before I ask you officially, will you be my moh?" and that was that Smiley smile

My MOH is my best friend, and she already new she was going to be before I asked her. She went with my mom, my sisters and I to look at wedding dresses. After I said 'yes' to the dress, I turned around and asked her "will you be my MOH?" while still in the dress. I hadn't planned it (it just felt right lol) and my mom was able to capture a picture of my 'proposal.'

I have two MOH that live in different areas. So I made them each a unique card asking the question and gave it to them in person. They both cried.

I love the Jam label @TheFrankSpot Smiley smile

I found a box on etsy super cute I placed a ring inside and I got a card which I addressed to them. I did the same for my bridesmaids.

My MOH is my sister and I was her co-MOH so it was somewhat expected that she would be mine as well. I asked her anyways with a bottle of wine with a handmade tag saying will you be my MOH wrapped around the neck of it.

All my bridesmaids (including MOH) got a bottle of wine with a cute poem asking them to be in the wedding. I got the idea from Pinterest.

When I first got engaged I called and said "you're officially my maid of honor". She's my older sister so she's known since childhood that she'd be my MOH.
