How did you print your boudoir pictures?

Natalie, on April 29, 2015 at 5:25 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

They're really not that racy at all but I definitely don't want to bring them to a drugstore so some college kid can print them. Do you think its safer to use a company like shutterfly? or the company my photographer uses could also print them? I'm mostly just concerned about them remaining private but I don't have a quality printer to use so I can't print them myself.

My photographer referred a printing place to me, or you could do an instant photo booth (think walmart, or loblaws) so that you are the only one seeing them.

This has been asked before, and I think most people recommend using the photographer's recommended print service.

Shutterfly is a bit strange b/c they are not necessarily printing "in-house"-- whatever you send, depending on location, could be outsourced to a local printer (like a Walmart or CVS), so your run-of-the-mill photomat employee could be seeing your photos anyway. . .

I would use the recommended printing place, or the photographer themselves if they offer printing.

I did a calendar on Shutterfly. But, I am not shy. So, I don't care who saw them.

I have a boudoir session in June and i will be using Shutterfly, or a similar online company to make a photobook for my FH. There likely won't be any nudes, and i really don't care if someone i don't know sees the pics. A lot of people use online services like Shutterfly, and i don't think they would be in business long if their customers' private photos were leaked all over the internet.

I work in a photo lab, and have seen everything and anything come through. If the workplace is professional (which mine is) you keep it to yourself and make the prints look their best. My lab is inside a photography store so we are more in-tune with privacy issues and discretion.

Walmart won't print them for you. My sister tried with hers. I would use the place the photographer recommend.

I would use a professional print service. I would use the one your photographer recommended!

I did it twice--once I ordered prints through my photographer, and once I ordered a book through shutterfly. If I ever do it again (I probably will, obviously I loved it!) I would probably order a book through the photog or from a place she recommends.

Oh, I hadn't even thought about not being able to just print these anywhere. I was going to ask everyone about presentation, though. For people who printed the pictures out, what did you then do with them? I was thinking I'd either do a Shutterfly album (or one through my photog, but those are sooo overpriced), or make a little scrapbook with them...but are there other options? I don't just want loose pictures, although I do plan on getting enlargements of less rique ones for our bedroom, if they turn out well!

A real lab like Nations Lab etc. NOT some loss leader retailer or consumer grade print service.
