How did you prep your lips? Yup.. lips.

I have never loved or tolerated lipstick/gloss/shimmer/stain/etc. I think it has always looked ridiculous on me. However! I have fallen in love with Tarte's lipsurgence and I am trying my best to get my lips in tip-top shape. I always thought lip "stuff" never looked good on me because it always creases in my lips and feels gooey or gritty..

The lady at Ulta said I needed to exfoliate my lips to get the dead skin off and it'll stop doing that... She said to use sugar and olive oil. I've been doing that for a while and my lips are still "peely" not so bad that I can't stand it but bad enough that the product won't apply right... I've tried: use an old, soft toothbrush, sugar, olive oil, honey, A&D ointment, tons of chapstick.. etc.. no avail.

Anyone have any other tips? Grandma's secret recipe or something? I've never cared about my silly lips before!

I had a ChapStick, I think it was blistex, that had ridges on the edge to help exfoliate my lips. That....and water. When I don't drink enough water, my lips are not happy!

^ What A&J said. Definitely lots of water, it will help all your skin from being peely, including your lips.

    This works for me:

    1. First thing every morning, drink 8 ounces of water.

    2. After brushing your teeth, lightly exfoliate your lips with warm water and sugar

    3. Pat lips dry and apply thin layer of petroleum jelly

    4. When you arrive at work, drink 8 ounces of water

    5. From lunch until you leave for work, drink 8 ounces of water every 2 hours

    6. Drink 8 ounces of water with dinner

    7. After brushing your teeth, lightly exfoliate your lips with warm water and sugar

    8. Pat lips dry with dry towel and apply thin layer of petroleum jelly

    9. Before you go to bed, drink another 8 ounces of water

When you are outside in the sun, make sure you use a lip balm with SPF 30 or greater.

I don't even use an exfoilant just a tooth brush. Drink lots of water and use vaseline after brushing. I started using baby lips too I like it. A lot of people swear by eos and burt's bees, I like burts bees but haven't tried eos.

I am a chapstick addict. My favorite ones are Nivea. I don't know the exact name, but I typically get the dark blue one. It may be a little soft for some people but I pretty much have to keep a thick layer on at all times.

I have heard of scrubs and stuff, but I feel like that may just make them peel more?

Ugh I'm a vaseline girl but my lips get sooo chapped. There have been studies to prove that some chapstick makes lips MORE chapped and I believe it. I'd like to think i have nice plump lips- but the whole chapped part of them. Definitely following this, some good tips i'll have to try already

Aquaphor, I was on a medication that dried my lips out so bad. I would joke I got new pair of lips daily. They suggested aquaphor and it worked. Walmart or any drugstore carries it

I like to exfoliate with Vaseline and regular table sugar. Then before I go to bed, I put a little Vaseline on instead of chapstick... it works the best!

I've done this in the Winter when my lips were reallly chapped! Mix Olive Oil & Brown Sugar to make a lip scrub! Also, I've done pure Coconut Oil on my lips. Both work magic! I prefer the Coconut Oil cause it's less messy and you can use it for many other things. It gets rid of stretch marks & scars, ect.!
