How did you meet?

Sarah, on October 2, 2019 at 9:30 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 24
Let’s hear it! How did you and your FH meet? The old “you’ll meet someone when you least expect it” was true for us. I met my FH online. I was out of a rough relationship (and feeling jaded/skeptical of men) and he was new to the area and just trying to meet people casually. That quickly changed once we met. We exchanged “I love you’s” within a month and we both “knew” after a couple of months. I remember leaving his apartment after a weekend and texting my friend “this one is it. He’s going to be here for the long haul”. We dated almost 2yrs before he proposed.

We met in 7th grade, he was the new guy at school (I had a crush on him since that day). We became best friends then I hated him in 9th grade and we found eachother again the summer of sophemore year. I couldn't believe it when I found out he liked me and all my crushy feelings came back. Been together since (7 years!)

Congrats to you, too! I used to think it would be weird to admit I met my spouse online but I wouldn’t change it!

We met at a community center dance in 1985. He was casually dating a friend of mine but she saw the spark between us and stepped aside. We dated six months then broke up only because he left for the Navy and I was 15. About 6 years ago we found each other on Facebook and were friends until April 2017 when he got tired of me turning him down for dates. He called and said he was taking me to dinner and wouldn't take no for an answer. I went and we've been together since. He moved in that June, and proposed that November. The friend who stepped aside is a bridesmaid, and we're have or ceremony/reception at the community center we met at.

We met online as well. After I got out of bad relationship and was losing hope lol. Were long distance for 4-5 months. He moved up by me 3 hours north lol and transferred jobs. Engaged after about a year together. I agree with your previous post about being surprised finding someone online.

Bumble! I was tipsy and bored and found him within the first 5 minutes. Turns out his brother was my friend 10 or so years ago (best friend of my ex LOL)

We have a LONG story... we met 6 years ago. My brother had just rented a room from my FH and they quickly became buddies. I thought he was cute but he had just gotten out of a relationship and I was leaving for school again... so nothing ever came of it. In fact, he doesn't even remember meeting me.

Fast forward 4 years... I had been kicked out of my apartment by my ex and had to move back in with my parents. He had just come home from a year long deployment. We worked at the same place on different shifts and he would come talk to me during our overlap. He finally asked me out about 4 months later, after a mutual friend threw him under the bus to my brother (he was nervous to ask his permission, so our friend sped up the process). A few weeks later we were living together and a few months later we were pregnant with our son.

My family says they knew he was going to be family when my dad gave him a treasured shell casing from when my dad was in the military. Multiple people had asked my dad for it but he never parted with it. My dad showed my FH it one day (before we started dating) and my FH told him that he hadn't been allowed to bring one home. My dad told him to take it. When asked why, my dad said, "He deserved it." My step-mom always hoped he would end up with my sister but that we make more sense now that she can see it.

We "met" in a group we were in on Facebook. Talked a couple of times on some posts in there. Then one day out of the blue he sent me a funny video. We started chatting. He came down to see me (3 hours away) and spent the weekend with me. We did the long distance thing for a couple months then we moved in together. A year and a half into our relationship he proposed. It'll be both of our first marriages, we'll both be 40 when we get married, and we grew up 20 minutes from each other but never knew each other back then...i never figured i would find my soulmate on Facebook and definitely not in that group. 😂😂

We met on Bumble, also. I noticed he worked across the street from me because of the proximity locator. On our first date, we weren't drinking so I confided in him that I have Inflammatory Bowel Disease. He didn't say anything for a good minute and a half and I got nervous. Then he said he had it too and we figured out that we went to the same infusion room every 6 weeks for treatment. Life is so much easier with a partner that truly gets you and loves you for who you are.

We met online. I was single for about 3 years before we found each other. I was just about to give up on trying to find someone until he messaged me back. We talked for hours everyday for a week until we finally met in person. After he met my family, I knew that I finally found my person. November 4th will mark 4 years together

We met online as well! I was never really into dating apps and my friends kept badgering me until I signed up for one. He was the first person I matched with (within an hour). When we met it was instant chemistry! My stint with online dating ended up being very short lol

We met on Tinder actually. He had just gotten out of a longer relationship and I had just gotten out of a shorter one with a guy who was a little crazy haha. Fortunately, I re-downloaded Tinder and FH downloaded it because his cousin told him to. We talked for a month before going on our first date. 5 years later and we got engaged almost a month ago!

I moved back to my hometown after being away for school for 7 years. He is in the military and got stationed here about a month before I moved back. It was just great timing that we were in the same area, cause he really is my Prince Charming Smiley heart Now 36 days until "I DO"

We met online, OkCupid. He was my first date back in to the dating world (I had taken myself out for a while to focus on work and school). We hit it off right away talking about cute furry animals. We texted for weeks sun up to sun down before he asked me out to dinner. The moment I walked in to the restaurant and he stood up I knew he was going to be important to me. By the end of the night I knew I was going to love him. His pictures did not do him justice, I was almost mad when I saw how attractive he was 😂. The next day we did date #2 and he said he just wanted to be friends. It actually broke my heart because it felt wrong. We became close friends and talked constantly, and I wound up dating someone else for awhile. When I told him I was breaking up with the guy he sent me this long professionally written text message starting with "Allow me to rock the boat a bit and submit the notion that throughout our talks...." he's an engineer and his logical proposition was hilarious. I went to his Halloween party and we've been together ever since, our anniversary is Halloween. It turns out we used to go to the same restaurant and order the same meal but never met, and he used to ride his bike 2 times a day just feet away from my bedroom window.

We met in college. I had specifically picked a seat in class thinking no one would sit next to me. About 30 seconds before class starts he plops himself down right next to me, then didn't stop talking the ENTIRE class. I was giving him short, one word answers partially hoping he would go away and partially because I had lost my voice. I foolishly gave him my number when he asked to be study buddies.
