Horrible DJ Experience

I need a place to vent. My husband and I got back from our honeymoon yesterday and have a phone conference scheduled with the owner of the DJ company we hired this afternoon. Let me start off by saying that we did not cheap out on this service. We needed a bilingual DJ and hired a company based in Miami and Chicago that "specializes" in this. It wasn't an easy find and we read reviews online, had multiple phone meetings before making this decision. We debated hiring a local person who would be a lot cheaper but didn't have bilingual reception experience, but eventually went with the bigger company because we know how much a DJ matters.

Fast forward to our wedding day. This is after multiple conversations confirming everything and we were told everything was good to go. I had given them my day of coordinators contact info as well as the manager of our venue. After the ceremony the bridal party takes pictures and my husband and I are seeing the decorated space for the first time (cont)

OP- it's been suggested a few times and you said you'd do it, but I just wanted to throw another vote in for send an email recapping the convo and his agreement to send payment. The PP who said the recording may not be useable is exactly right depending on where you and the DJ are located. I'm an attorney and tell clients ALL the time that they need to recap convos in writing and ask for the other person to confirm or correct them if anything is different from their understanding.

These are the times I consider calling the BBB.

TimeLadyErika, BBB is a private group, not altogether different Yelp or Angie's List. They charge the vendor to be BBB A+ accredited.

So glad you updated this! This is a total nightmare. I thought this was a big DJ company and he wanted to do a payment plan?

What a nightmare! I'm so sorry you had to deal with that. I'd be pissed. The flow of the night can really be made or broken by a DJ

If they don't give you a free refund you need to go to a attorney. Have them pay for that extra $150 you needed to pay your photographer. Id be furious. I would probably ask them to leave and play from my phone myself.

Edit: I didn't read all the comments. I am happy that they are sending a refund. I am sorry that happened to you. I would be so upset.

BBB is pointless, reallly. It's pay for play and a they have gotten a lot of press about that recently.

I'm glad you got a refund.
