Honeymoon right after wedding or waiting a while?

MrsBurns, on March 2, 2016 at 11:43 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 56

My fiance job does not offer vacation hours or paid time off, so if we take a honeymoon right after the wedding it would be one day at the most two days. We were thinking of either waiting to do it later on in the year or just going somewhere close like Key West for a weekend. When do you plan on taking your honeymoon?

We're spending our wedding night in a fancy historic hotel nearby, but our wedding is close to Christmas so our honeymoon isn't until January, exactly 5 weeks after our wedding. I don't think it would feel much like a honeymoon if we waited more than a few months - just a vacation. But we all have to do what works with our life schedules!!

We're waiting to take our honeymoon. Our wedding is in June, and we want to go somewhere hot so we figured We would wait until around Feb of the next year to go.

We are taking ours later. I'm starting a new job next week and even though by October I will have a few PTO days I plan to use them for the few days before the wedding to make sure everything is taken care of and ready to go for the wedding. And we are having a baby in June so my FH will have to use his vacation time then. Plus I don't want to leave my 4 month old for an extended period of time!

We're taking our honeymoon right after the wedding. We're spending 3 days after in a beach house we rented for the wedding before heading out to Maine for 2 weeks.

We're waiting. Besides the fact that we want to honeymoon during colder weather and our wedding is in April, we also want a chance to save for the exact honeymoon we want. It'd just be too much for us financially to try to fund a wedding and a honeymoon at the same time.

I plan on returning to work the Monday after my wedding. If all goes as planned I will return to work on the 8th and my last day will be the 19th. With a honeymoon sometime between Aug 20th and Sept 5. (I plan to start my next job on Sept 6).

We took our week long honeymoon right after the wedding. We both had the PTO time and couldn't imagine going back to work right away. I know several couples though that took a couple days right after and did something local and then did a full honeymoon later when it worked better.

We are doing a small one right after the wedding and waiting a while for a bigger one. We live in CO and are going to a bed and breakfast for three days and calling it our "mini-moon". We will go somewhere tropical for the bigger one and stay at a resort.

We had a "stay-cation" long weekend immediately following the wedding, but are going to Greece in May. We are considering that trip to be our honeymoon despite it being 7 months later. We never take big trips so there's no chance of it feeling like "just another vacation" to us.

I'm self employed so am taking three weeks off ( including week of wedding) I just don't get paid. FH has three weeks holidays so at least one of us will be getting holiday pay! Here if you are in full time employment you are entitled to a statutory minimum of twenty something working days off as paid holidays every year. Anyway so we are going the Tuesday after the wedding for eleven nights.i can't wait!!

We took ours about a month after the wedding. It was perfect. It gave us some time to play house in our new condo (we didn't live together before), and just generally get situated. Plus, it gave us something else to look forward to after the wedding!

We went on our honeymoon in January. Both DH and I have a hard time getting off of work in October, so the time off for the wedding was hard enough to get. Then with the holidays, we decided to wait until the new year. I was so glad. It gave us something to look forward to and it was so nice to be sitting on a beach in January while it was snowing at home.

We are flying to Maui the day after our wedding to spend 5 nights and 6 days on our honeymoon. My fiance is an insurance agent so he works solely on commissions and will not be making money for a full week while we are gone, but we have been planning for this and budgeting our money accordingly so that we can enjoy each other's company together as newlyweds. If you and your fiance want to have a honeymoon right after, check to see if he can get unpaid time off through his work and do that. You will just need to budget your money for missing that time at work. My coworker is getting married a week before me and she is in a masters program so her and her fiance are waiting until over the summer to celebrate their honeymoon. Lots of options available so pick what's best for you guys Smiley smile

Ours will probably be later on in the year (maybe Nov) if we do one at all because our priority is buying a home. If we don't do one, we're considering a trip on our one year anniversary.

We are taking ours later as well, we are getting married in August but wont be going on our actual honeymoon till until March because it'll be out of the country (for 10 days) and we will be using this year's vacation time next month for another trip. We are doing an out of state "mini moon" the weekend after but nothing fancy Smiley smile Just a few days for just us two without our fur babies.

We are having a mini-moon to an Eagle Crest cabin right after the wedding, and will be taking a more formal honeymoon later (TBD) in the year!
