Help!! Postcard with a envelope and postage cost

Sara , on May 30, 2011 at 2:47 AM Posted in Planning 0 8

I am ordering postcards from vistaprint and I have an option to get envelopes with them. Will using an envelope turn it into a letter therefore increasing the postage cost?

It did for me. I got postcards with envelopes for my gmas heart walk and it turned out being the price of a reg stamp. It sucked.

It WILL turn it into a letter but might be worth the extra cost. My dd did postcard RSVPs and about a dozen out of 186 invited got lost in the mail.

If you're using the postcards for RSVP cards, I wouldn't get envelopes for them. But if you're doing a postcard invitation like we did, I would do envelopes because you don't want them getting stamped or stickered on the card itself when they're mailed.

As others said, anything in an envelope is going to be first class letter postage, not a postcard.

Be sure that they meet the mailing requirements for postcard if you are going to mail them as a postcard.

The post office does not know what is inside of the envelope. The envelope requires different postage than a postcard.

I used postcards from vistaprint for my best friends shower that I did, and my MOH is using postcards for mine just becasue they are cheaper without the envelope. The ones I sent went thru the mail good...I didnt have any complaints of any being torn or anything. I do know the corners got banged up a little thought but other than that it turned out fine.
