Help!!! Dress is too big, wedding is in 9 days

Shannon, on June 25, 2015 at 11:14 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 32

I have lost a bunch of weight and the see stress said she couldn't take it in anymore than she already has. I told her to anyway and now the back is all bunching. I am swimming in it still and she has probably taken it down four inches. At this point my wedding is in 9 days. My friend is a seamstress and offered some okay solutions but the bodice is still so big. What should I do?

Go to McDonalds for lunch and Taco Bell for dinner every day for the next week?

    COOKIES!

    Or try another seamstress

Or buy a new dress and try to sell this one after?

    @maltese - HAHA!!!

your seamstress really can't do anything? mine worked miracles so i feel like anything is possible. maybe ask another seamstress for a second opinion? There has to be something they can do!

I would start looking for a new dress. Dresses can only be altered so much.

It doesn't look super big! I second the idea of maybe just adding a belt to cinch the waist? As long as this doesn't happen, I think you're good!

She can take in the shoulders and do a basic temporary stitch on the sides. The chest area is huge and the shoulders helps that and the bunching. Funny thing is, I bought this dress in a 12 because a 10 in this designer didn't fit my chest. (I know, I know- nice tit shot)

No really. eat all the food. Best problem ever.

definitely try cutlets. are you wearing spanx or anything? maybe nix those.

trying to find a new dress sounds like a terrible idea. maybe another bridal shop can help with ideas? i'm sure you aren't the only one with this problem before

Ps it really doesn't look that bad but it might just be the mirror shot - can you have someone take a pic with your arms down?

This reminds me of HIMYM when Lilly was on the phone crying to the dress shop saying "You've got to do something. You've got to feel sorry for me. I lost too much weight and my dress is too big!" and the dress shop hung up on her. Lol.

Will a different, more padded bra help? Good thing it has straps, because that helps.

I had an alterations emergency with 12 days out and nearly had a heart attack. I contacted another boutique tailor and got a second opinion. They worked miracles the other place couldn't. Or, option B, go to David's Bridal or somewhere else and get something off the rack. If my second tailor had said they couldn't do anything I would've done that.

    *shudders*

I couldn't imagine looking for a new dress 9 days....one, I loved mine so much that I know I would go nuts trying to find something as similar as I could and two, the stress and pressure of HAVING to find it so quickly would drive me insane!

    I'm with Maltese.

This annoys me, I don't know why. Many brides want to loose weight for their wedding, If you plan to loose a large amount of weight, you need to loose the majority of it BEFORE you buy your wedding dress. Then up to 15 pounds after your order or you run into issues with alterations. If you haven't lost the weight by the time you've ordered the dress, loose a few pounds and suck it up.
